Top Two Tuesday...and ABC's

Both of these I got from my Bestie Taylor at the Undomestic Momma ...

Today's Top Two Tuesday is random facts about you..
1. I lived in Texas all my life and no boy ever taught me (or asked) to 2 step with me. I tried to get my brother to teach me but that was back in the 'ewww I can't touch my sister' phase
So when I met my hubby I was 31 and he was my 1st and last 2 step partner. That boy went to AGGIELAND...so of course he knew what he was doing. I still get butterflies when he twirls me around. Something about a man in his boots dancing w/his girl

You're An Idiot!

Those are the words I shouted to my scales this morning. I mean really ...what does it do? See me coming and then laugh to itself saying, "Let's add a few pounds and see her reaction?"

Well thank you very much b/c I won't be getting on you again until next Monday..."Operation get the weight off" starts today. Back on Weight Watchers! It worked when I did it last May when I got the rest of Lily's baby weight off...I can do it again. I'm guessing the 10 lbs over the last 13 weeks came from pregnancy and the past 2 weeks of mourning the loss of that baby. I just didn't really care that Wendy's Spicy Chicken sandwich sounded good 3 or 4 or 5 days in a row for lunch. So now I'm paying for it. I wonder if Wii Fit works?? I've seen it, but never talked to anyone who has used it. Is it worth the $$$? I can't head to the gym since I have Lils so this would be the best thing. Stay tuned for that chapter!

Recap of the quick weekend!Hubs thought I was still feeling kind of down...so Saturday he went to buy me a present. Most men buy jewelry or clothes or perfume for their women. Not my country boy. He buys me guns or boots. So what did he return with? Well I named her Bonnie. Ain't she tiny and cute? Easy to wear under dresses and skirts this summer!

Sunday my In Laws came to babysit Mini Me and Lily so we could take the boys to the gun range. It was their first trip to shoot and they were in total heaven!! They were soooo excited and (calm) and so so so thankful. That is all they talked about all evening! I was shocked at how well my oldest could handle a shotgun. I guess it's a boy thing!! I got to try Bonnie out and she worked great....barely had a kick!
The in laws took the girls shoe shopping....we get home and each girl had 4...yes 4 new pairs of shoes! LOVE MY MOTHER IN LAW WHO HAS A SHOE OBSESSION! WOOHOO
ok...I'm off now to not think about food!

Breast Milk = Mood Enhancer

There has got to be something in breast milk that makes one happy. Lily can go from the grumpiest of all grump masters and then gets her BooBoo (her word for mommy milk) and BOOM...she's the happiest sweetest angel in the world. She literally gets the prettiest grin and wraps her arms around my neck and says "Hi mommy" and kisses my lips over and over!

I want something that does that for me...you know where you are having a bad day and you walk and get a shot of BooBoo...ok maybe not BooBoo, but something well, not made by me. :o)
Maybe like Dr Pepper. I've tried it with Dr Pepper and it didn't work like it does on Lily. I've tried coffee too, but it still doesn't have the same effect that it does on Lily. She goes from 0-100 in seconds with that stuff!!!

Part of me is ready to wean her, but then the other part of me loves that "Hi Mommy" and choke hold hug! She turned 18 months today and I was thinking that hubs and I should plan a weekend getaway like our Besties....(they've headed to Louisiana this weekend) I'm thinking New Orleans myself!!

Update from Midwife...
My HCG level was 106 today. WOOHOO....that means everything seems fine and my levels should be back to normal here any day! So prayers my cycle starts in the next 4-6 weeks! Thanks for all that were thinking of me today and cheering along with me on this journey!!

It Said What???

So on my way to my midwife there is a business that always brings a smile to my face. My kids keep telling me to take a picture and blog about it....so I think I will

I had an appt today to get my blood work done to check my HCG levels. I'm hoping for a level of 0-5. My midwife said not to panic if the levels are still a bit high...it could take a few weeks for them to come down after a miscarriage. I could use prayers for patience! I am ready for healing and the process to start all over again. I mean making the baby is half the fun right?!! :o)

SOOOOO on my way there I remember this crazy sign.....read below

ha ha ha beauty parlor and chainsaw repair???? Of course I had to google it b/c who does both in one shop, but it's a night club! Needless to say it's a Gay and Lesbian bar so I won't be gracing the doors anytime soon....but I sure was dying to have a look at the decorations inside!

I know...at a loss for words too huh? ha ha

Wishful Wed....

Wishful Wednesday over at Seattle Smith's topic is....I wish I could afford __________ purse/handbag....

Well mine would be the one I have drooled over since before I got pregnant with Lils!
Petunia Pickle Bottom "Cake" diaper bag in Chocolate Decadence

I just couldn't seem to justify the $325 price tag for a bag that's gonna carry poopy dipaers or drippy sippy cups....or fill in the blank! BUT I SOOOOO WANT THIS

I am still holding hope for one of these for baby #5....(God willing it happens again) I've been a good girl ...please please please....

Who are you and what have you done with Laura?

Whew! Thanks friends for checking up on me....I didn't blog the past week well....b/c my hormones were all over the map and I didn't want to be a Debby Downer!

Things are trying to get back to normal around here. The kids came back Sunday night from their Spring Break trip to the grandparents and we had to tell them the news.
The boys had a few questions....but Mini Me had a TON of questions...

I basically had to think of terms that they would understand easily...Started with simple things...you know how your car needs all the parts working in good order for the car to run...or how flowers need soil, sunlight, and water to grow. Well that's kind of like a growing baby in my tummy. It needs to be healthy and have everything working in order for it to thrive. Sometimes babies don't and they stop living. This is how God takes care of things. It's a sad sad thing to lose your baby, but God's plan is for your baby to be healthy and ours wasn't.

I think they understood....they wanted to know if we would have more...we told them we were going to try....we just needed to pray for a healthy baby!

I got tons of I'm so sorry Mom, and hugs and kisses from the kids!

My sweet angels didn't last long though....the fighting and screaming started 10 mins later.

I didn't feel up to the task to go through their rooms while they were gone...BIG MISTAKE ON MY PART. My oldest child decided to take duct tape in all colors and snip little pieces and stick them to the carpet. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH ARE YOU SERIOUS? We have that frieze style carpet (you know shag looking) That was like plucking hair from your skin to get that stuff up. I tried really hard not to lose it. Then the kids ran into the bathroom to see who could brush their teeth first and slipped on the rug and ripped the shower curtain off the hook.

My daughter forgot to flush her toilet while she was gone. (no surprise there) can you say nasty after 1 week?!

My 2nd boy child lost all his jeans while away and only had the pair he was wearing and I'm not sure he ever took them off...ewwwwwwwwwwwww again!

Can you say "We're back Mom" !!!!

So I was flooded w/cleaning and washing that night. I blame myself! I slacked on my mother duties when I had a week to get things sparkle clean.

My hormones are coming back to normal .....I no longer break out in tears during the day. I'm now in the ..."was it all a dream" phase!

Hubs has been terrific! My knight in shining armor. I couldn't have asked for a better man in my life!

Keep your eyes peeled for a Lisa Leonard giveaway next week. It's my birthday month next month and I get to give a little something something away to one of you lucky ppl!!!

Funny What A Song Can Do....

So yesterday I was having myself a pity party! I started off doing great...thought I'd tackle laundry to get my mind off of things....it doesn't work I tried.

Your mind wanders...you know the typical questions that you already know the answer to but ask yourself anyways...

~Why us?
~Where was I the day his/her heart stopped beating...
~What could I have done differently?
~Who is he/she playing with in Heaven?
~Will the next pregnancy be ok?
~I wanted my baby so much....how long will this last sad feeling last?
~How long will the physical healing process take?

Some people say ...
"it's for the best"...."you have 4 beautiful children already"..."these things happen"...blah blah...I know I know, but it doesn't make losing this little one any easier! We planned for him/her and were over the moon thrilled and to find out that one month prior he/she stopped growing hurts!!

So yesterday Lils and I were watching Nick Jr and a song came on in between shows...It really caught my attention and brightened my heart and brought tears of joy to my eyes...What was the song you ask?

Bob Marley's Three Little Birds

Funny how a song can move you so! It helps to remember God has a plan and everything will be alright. It doesn't make it hurt less...just helps put things in perspective!
Also knowing I'm not alone and hearing other people's stories has helped....I've had a lot of questions about the healing etc...and so I thank everyone for sharing ....

I didn't forget about my Giveaway...I'm sorry for not posting sooner!!!!

The winner of the Earth Mama Angel Baby is....
Annie at Our Little Family congrats Annie!!!

So share what songs pick you up and make you smile?

Baby Update

First I want to thank each and every person for such kind sweet words yesterday....it's so wonderful to know how much people care for you and sent prayers our way even though we've never met.

Had the ultrasound this morning and didn't get good news. The baby didn't make it past 6 weeks 3 days. I was so hopeful that my dates were wrong....but his or her little heart wasn't beating! I should be 11 weeks this week so obviously something was wrong and we lost the baby.

Ugh...it hurts so much to type that, but deep down we know that it was for the best. We all pray for healthy babies...and this baby just wasn't quite ready yet.

Hubby has been wonderful.....he says we can try again and have hundreds more babies!

Ok honey, maybe not hundreds but thanks for being a sweetie!!

The big kids are gone for spring break w/the grandparents this week so this gives us some time to cope and deal before they come home.

Thanks again to everyone for caring and sending good thoughts.

Stressed and yet Hopeful..

So I've been gone a few days...ie no postings....

I had my 10 week midwife appt on Friday and didn't get the news I was hoping for.

She was going through all the standard questions...and asked LMP- New Years Eve...was it normal..yes...was I on a regular cycle...kind of...I didn't resume until Lils was 13 months. blah blah more questions...
She reminds me it could be still early to listen to the heartbeat, but we try...nothing...ok we'll try again on that next week.

Next internal exam....hmmmm she says...."Laura, I don't feel a 10 week uterus...in fact it feels normal...we need to do an ultrasound....Are you sure on your dates?" She says she doesn't want to alarm me or stress me out, but something doesn't feel right.

At this point I'm freaking out. I've had zero complications...no cramping no bleeding etc....The labs are all booked at 3 places for an ultrasound, so I have to wait until Monday morning at 9am. We do my blood work and the results will be in on Saturday w/my baby blood work...ie pregnancy test...HCG levels and progesterone levels too. Thankfully my midwife is calling for the results on Saturday and will let me know...

I'm a wreck all day long......I can't think straight...all I want to know is if my baby is ok?? She mentions the term Blighted Ovum and I'm on the internet for hours looking it up.....

Saturday...Birthing Center calls w/hopeful news....pregnancy comes back positive (but from what I read HCG levels can last until 12 weeks) My progesterone is high and that's promising...and my HCG level was over 16,000 which is another good sign...they think that possibly my dates are off and I'm 6-8 weeks and not the 10 I thought. I'll need another blood work done after the U/S on Monday to compare levels.

I'm not sure how I could be off on my dates...I took a pregnancy test 24 days after my LMP and got a positive! BUT I'LL TAKE WHAT I GET RIGHT NOW.

I'm still scared...U/S is tomorrow at 9am and I'm just dying to see in there and make sure everything is ok. Prayers our way would be much appreciated!!!

Milt Not Milk...I was a Pervert I guess!

I was reminded today about my old blog address and title....

Milt Not Milk

You see my daughter (Mini Me) at the time had some speech issues...and at 3 or 4 yrs old she would call milk MILT. Well it stuck in our house and so we called that white stuff Milt....thinking we were being cute!

When I started my blog back in 2007 I was trying to come up with a name that had to do w/my kids...and it hit me ...Milt Not Milk...would be a weird funny title...so there it was born.

I think I had that blogspot address for about a year when our family and friends starting commenting how sick and perverted we were. I was left confused. Why were we sick and perverted...that's how she said Milk!

But the comments keep coming ....so I finally emailed a friend and asked why we were sick perverts?

Imagine my surprise when she asked if I knew the meaning of Milt. Nope..can't say that I do...
Well look it up she said....

Read here for My Milt Not Milk clarification....tell me what you think!

Top Two Tuesday

(Reminder about my Giveaway....head to the link to enter)

Top Two Tuesday's Topic
"Top Two Baby Names"

This is a great one since I need all the help I can get.

Girls- My other 2 girls are Katelyn (Kate) and Lillian (Lily). Hubby and I never agree on any names...I haven't come up with a girl name yet that I just jump up and down for. (which means I'm having a boy) I like the name Abigail. Abby makes a cute nickname. Hub's isn't crazy for it. He loves Vivian. I'm not! So we are at a stand off.

Boys- My other 2 boys names are Grayson and Jacob (Jake). Again hub's and I don't agree. He is dying for a Rhett! Nope can't do it! I'm dying for a COOPER REID. Oh I love that name!!! Time will tell in another 10 weeks what little bean is! woohoo can't wait

In the meantime I'll just look at other ppl's names for ideas!

Giveaway and Recap of Bestie Day Out

In case you missed yesterday's post...I'm having a GIVEAWAY...CLICK THE LINK SO YOU DON'T MISS OUT!!!

Recap of Bestie Day Out

So me and my Bestie (Taylor) had a girls day out on Saturday. We bribed the hubs into watching the little princesses (ok we really made a deal that if they watched the babies they could go to the gun range on Sunday) I put Lils down for a nap and off we bolted for lunch and shopping. Lunch was horrible...so we think we need a do-over on that.....We headed to the mall and proceeded to search for some great dresses for our growing baby bumps. Our hubby's were actually encouraging of this....(insert shock) and so we were determined to find some great dresses to show off for them. After our frequent trips to the little girls room we realized we were having a failed shopping experience. You know it's one of those...."When you are looking for something you don't find it, and when you aren't looking for something you find everything" moments!

We didn't stick to maternity stores b/c we were determined to find dresses that expanded....and our last stop we scored! We found one of those dresses that can either be worn as a skirt or dress. I got one in a blush or nude color and she got white.
We're going to wear them like the picture on the right w/a cute denim crop jacket or crop sweater! How cute are these??? woohoo!

When we headed home we found the guys at my house...the living room was a wreck of toys and the babies literally lunged for us. The dad's had filled them on M&M's and who knows what else! Ha Ha....they looked pretty happy though...we did noticed a little sagging baby booty on Rals...and Lils had half diaper on a butt cheek...half diaper off! Ha ha...who can complain...we had a great 4 hours of just girls!!

Well I'm a Big Pregnant Dork

I am soooo anxious and excited. Finally 1 week from today I have my first Midwife appt to check on the "Sweetie Pie #5" !!!
My midwife doesn't see you until 10-12 weeks...makes sense since nothing is really going on...it's only weight and blood work the first few weeks anyways...why not wait and do all of that and also check for heartbeat. SO FINALLY NEXT FRIDAY IS THE DAY. I felt like this day would never come!!

I can't wait to hear his/her little pitter patter! I am bring my flip camera to record it, ha ha so yes be prepared to be bored to tears w/a baby's heartbeat next week! (besides hubby has work and he's missing the appt so I wanted to record it for him)

All this excitement about the heartbeat got me thinking to when I was pregnant w/Lils....

Read the post below from April 2008

Have a great weekend....Tomorrow is BFF girl's shopping and lunch w/my BFF Taylor at Undomestic Momma who btw just announced she was pregnant too...we're 3 weeks apart! Yippee! I loving having my friend preggers w/me this summer! Oh the joys of friendship and pregnancy!!! I'm glad she finally told...I hate keeping secrets! :o)

Well I'm just a Big Pregnant Dork

So the other day my neighbor brought the baby doppler over (she has 3 times now) for me to hear the baby's heartbeat ...I ran inside...grabbed the kids and went in search of that precious baby thumping. I got my cell phone and recorded the sound for everyone to hear. I sent out txt message after txt message w/pride. I THOUGHT I WAS HEARING MY BABY'S HEARTBEAT AND I RECORDED IT..

well it wasn't

I was listening to my aortic nerve (sorry don't remember if that is the correct term) the nerve that runs from your heart...down you around ur uterus and down your legs....What is up with that? Well I couldn't find it, but the midwife found it in 2 secs flat...That was the horse hooves sound I was looking for. I'm bummed that all that time I thought that was my baby.....now I just realized I'm a big fat dork!!!

Oh well ...it sure was nice to hear it that beautiful sound though! My u/s is going to be set for May 12th so stayed tuned and place your bets now! ..I can't wait to see him/her.

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

The Good- Pregnant Belly

The Bad- Widening of the hips, and expanding of the rib cage

The Ugly- MATERNITY FASHION

Why is it that designers of the world get together to humiliate the pregnant momma? I'm talking affordable fashion....like Old Navy or Gap (insert other store of your choice)
I'm not talking about $50-100 shirt or skirts ....Affordable meaning $30 and under.
I mean we only wear the stuff for a few months and what are the odds that if you get pregnant again it's in the same season and can wear your stuff again? (Ok pretty good since it's the same season for my #4 and #5 haha)
Half the choices I had when pregnant with Lils had some of the strangest prints. I mean why do I want to wear swirls of odd colors together I didn't before I was pregnant.

Just because we are carrying a child in our womb doesn't mean we lost all sense of fashion. My brain cells are still the same. Why don't clothing manufactures design a shirt and then take that same concept and create maternity wear? When did we go from wearing cute trendy clothes to Peter Pan collars (sorry for those of you that love them) and vertical stripes or little ribbons all over our shirts?
When did we go from wearing cute summer skirts or dresses to wearing sacks over heads?

I so wish back in the day I had taken Home Economics instead of Child Development. For some reason the idea of carrying an egg or sack of flour around sounded more interesting than sewing a shirt. Now I'd kill for that skill. I'd come up with the most incredible Maternity line at affordable prices so mom's could keep their style and feel good about showing off their bump.

Sorry ...was having a pregnant rant kind of moment...it was one of those morning where I was standing in my closet wondering what on earth I'm gonna wear this summer. (wishing for warmer weather) I got online and just kept shaking my head at all the maternity clothes I don't want ...which in turn made me wish I could sew!

Playoff Chili
(southern living march 2008)

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 1 large white onion, chopped
  • 1 large green bell pepper, seeded and chopped
  • 1 large red bell pepper, seeded and chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 (14 1/2-oz.) can diced tomatoes with green chiles
  • 1 (12-oz.) bottle beer
  • 1 (8-oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground red pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 (16-oz.) can kidney beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 (16-oz.) can black beans, rinsed and drained
  • 14 (1 1/4-oz.) bags corn chips
  • Garnishes: chopped onion, shredded Cheddar cheese, sour cream

Preparation

1. Cook ground beef and next 5 ingredients in a Dutch oven over medium heat 10 minutes or until meat crumbles and is no longer pink. Stir in diced tomatoes with green chiles and next 9 ingredients, and bring to a boil. Cover, reduce heat to low, and simmer 1 hour and 45 minutes, stirring every 20 minutes. Add kidney beans and black beans; cover and cook 15 minutes.

2. Cut corn chip bags open at one long side. Spoon 1/2 cup chili on chips in each bag. Garnish, if desired.

Note: Chili may be frozen in a zip-top plastic freezer bag up to 3 months. For testing purposes only, we used Fritos Brand Original Corn Chips.

The past 3 times I have made this he has gone on and on about it. The funny thing is each time he says, "Hey honey, this recipe rocks...use this one again"

Silly boy....as soon as I heard him proclaim he loved it I threw all other recipes out w/the trash!

My kids love Frito Pie night and this recipe is quick and easy and ohhh soooo good!
