Groundhog or Rabbit?

So my official due date is this Wednesday...which is Groundhogs Day.....

Last Wed I went to get my toes done.....(thought the good foot rub would send me into labor) and the chinese girls were giggling at my swollen feet. They kept poking at them. bah! Then they asked when I was due and what I was having. They informed me that next Thursday (this thurs) is Chinese New Year ...the year of the Rabbit and since I'm having a boy I need to hold off. Ummm this is the year of the a Rabbit is good? So I should hold off right? haha

So either I've got a little Groundhog coming or a Rabbit...either way I think he's a monkey and can't wait to hold him!

Nothing today...but good mother is coming back into town tonight ...and I've got coffee girls night w/a few chicks from the neighborhood so ........all is well! My next midwife is wed so I'll keep you posted how we're doing!!!

Hey...looking for a quick and easy and warm meal for the family? I don't know the correct ingredients since I cook for an army...but...grab your crock pot and get busy! I'll post the ingredients I used and you can add according to your needs.

Meatball Soup

Huge package frozen meatballs

2 Family cans Condensed Tomato Soup

32 oz Chicken Broth

1 tsp Italian Seasoning

Shredded Mozzarella cheese

Throw all (except cheese) in a crock pot and heat all day long.

Hubs thought maybe some cream next time too for a creamy soup...but the kids and I liked it just as it was! blogger comment section is acting crazy and not letting me comment on your blogs...annoying...

Still Pregnant...

New baby new blog design....maybe this will inspire him to come out! Shannon over at her own blog and her design center Persnickety Pages and More is at it again! Tell her she rocks yet again!! Stay tuned b/c she's designing my birth announcement for when Reid decides to make an arrival too!

I think I heard Reid laughing at me around 4am when I got up for the 3rd time to pee. Thanks son...we'll see who's laughing after you meet big sis Lily! :o)

I plan on doing nothing today but sitting on my bum doing sudoku!

But for starters.....I made a terrific dish Saturday night and another this morning for breakfast....(Hopefully these 2 were the last times I'm in the kitchen for a while)

Thanks again to Our Best Bites for these recipes!...

The Baked Creamy Chicken Taquitos were a hit

Baked Creamy Chicken Taquitos
Recipe by

1/3 C (3 oz) cream cheese
1/4 C green salsa
1T fresh lime juice
1/2 t cumin
1 t chili powder
1/2 t onion powder
1/4 t granulated garlic
3 T chopped cilantro
2 T sliced green onions

2 C shredded cooked chicken
1 C grated pepperjack cheese

small tortillas
kosher salt
cooking spray

Heat oven to 425. Line a baking sheet with foil and lightly coat with cooking spray.

Heat cream cheese in the microwave for about 20-30 seconds so it's soft and easy to stir. Add green salsa, lime juice, cumin, chili powder, onion powder and granulated garlic. Stir to combine and then add cilantro and green onions. Add chicken and cheese and combine well.

You can prepare up to this step ahead of time. Just keep the mixture in the fridge.

Work with a few tortillas at a time and heat in the microwave until they are soft enough to roll without cracking. It helps to place them between damp paper towels. Usually 20-30 seconds will do it. If you find yours are cracking when you roll them or come unrolled right away, just try heating them longer and try the paper towel thing.

Place 2-3 T of chicken mixture on the lower third of a tortilla, keeping it about 1/2 inch from the edges.

Then roll it up as tight as you can.

Place seam side down on the baking sheet. Lay all of the taquitos on the baking sheet and make sure they are not touching each other. Spray the tops lightly with cooking spray or an oil mister and sprinkle some kosher salt on top.

Place pan in oven and bake for 15-20 minutes or until crisp and the ends start to get golden brown.

This morning I've got their Baked Breakfast Taquitos baking....but instead of red bell peppers I used bacon!!!!

Crispy Baked Breakfast Taquitos with Lime-Chipotle Dip

Recipe by Our Best Bites

2 tsp extra virgin olive oil
12 large eggs
1/2 C Breakstone's Sour Cream
1/2 tsp kosher salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1 1/2 C grated pepperjack cheese
1/4 C chopped roasted red bell peppers
1/4 C sliced green onions
1/4 C chopped cilantro
1-2 tsp hot sauce

16 6" flour tortillas
cooking spray or olive oil

Dipping Sauce:
1 1/2 C Breakstone's Sour Cream
1 Tbsp fresh lime juice
1/4 tsp chipotle chili powder
1/2 tsp kosher salt

Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Line a rimmed baking sheet with foil for easy clean-up. Spray with cooking spray or lightly brush with oil and set aside.

Heat olive oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium heat. Crack eggs into large mixing bowl. Whisk in 1/2 C sour cream, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. When skillet is hot, add egg mixture to pan. Using a rubber spatula, gently scrape bottom of pan and fold eggs over to scramble. Remove from heat when slightly undercooked. Add cheese, roasted red peppers, green onions, cilantro, and hot sauce to taste. Gently fold to combine.

Warm tortillas in microwave to ease rolling process. Working with a few tortillas at a time, place a scant 1/4 C egg mixture into the center of each one and roll up into a cylinder. Place rolled tortillas on prepared baking sheet, seam-side down, so they are not touching each other. When all tortillas are rolled and filled, lightly spray tops with cooking spray, or lightly brush with olive oil. Bake for 15 minutes or until edges are golden brown and crisp.

While taquitos are baking, coming 1 1/2 C sour cream, lime juice, chipotle chili powder and kosher salt. Stir to combine and store in fridge. Remove taquitos from oven , let cool for 5 minutes, and then serve with dipping sauce.

I was a little worried over the weekend since both of our parents were out of town (granted mine are always out of town) But Thankfully the inlaws are heading back w/my mom today!

They Think I Rock

My kids think I'm the bomb. It's only because they haven't really ventured off past the front steps to the really great bakeries or restaurants of the world yet. So for now I'm the best in the world.

They think my cooking rocks....they think my baked goods rock and it melts my heart to hear it.

Mini Me's big 10 bday was on the 26th and she wanted a cookie cake. Well for starters I hate heading to the mall for just that.....and 2nd have you seen the price tag on those things?

I can do this myself I thought...and I did just that! Take your favorite cookie recipe and grab your baking stone. I used parchment paper and traced the size circle I wanted. (I was making 2) Remember to press your dough almost to the edge of the circle b/c the cookie dough will spread just a little! Viola! Your own cookie cake. (don't forget to under bake a bit...who likes a crunchy cookie cake)

I grabbed all my cool tips and after the cookie cooled and decorated away! They turned out cute!

What's even better...the kids thought I bought them and when I told them I didn't...they said I rocked and they were the best cookie cakes in the world...better than the store ones!

Hubs had my digital camera for work....but I was able to snap some w/my cell phone.
I've been instructed to make a heart one for Valentines Day....

I had more weird dreams again last night...I'm hoping the end is near! I keep reminding myself to enjoy these semi quiet moments and the fact that I'm actually getting good sleep at night.

And the fact that Lily can play quietly by herself so I can grab a few minutes of blogging stalking too.
Ohhhh and showers...I can shower w/o worrying about her...pretty soon I'll have a little person sitting in a bouncy chair watching me shower again! Sooooo yes, I'll sit back w/my feet up and enjoy these last few days or week w/just the 2 of us. (yes mom I count the big kids, but they are in school....)

Midwife Appt Today!

Baby Reid is such a quiet one...He has been my less active baby ...I'm hoping that sticks since Lily was soooooo active in utero and outside!

Don't get me wrong...he moves...just more easy going than my other babies inside. He responds well to when we shove him....(his heart rate increases and he moves around) and he responds to when I drink that's all they need to know. I keep praying God knew I needed a calm baby being my 5th and after LILLIAN....I think I've mentioned before what a spit fire she is right?! (hee hee totally kidding)

SOOOOOOOOOOOOO at the appt I walked in and they joked "OHHH You're still pregnant huh?" If I didn't love them so much I'd slug them!

Got checked and was actually dilated...2cm which is rare for me.....still thick, but my cervix was already to the front (good thing...think of a loading ramp for unloading want it in prime position...and mine is...) Sorry too much TMI, but you have to admit the whole birthing process is totally amazing! Put all the pain aside and think of what your body is about to do ...NOW that is truly a miracle!!! God is Good!

Not only will I hopefully have some terrific news about baby Reid in the next week...(sooner if I could have my say) but I've got another surprise! (pertaining to the blog....) So stay tuned to see and read new stuff!! (thanks shannon)

I do want to say thanks sooo much to all of y'all! It feels sooo great to read your words of encouragement while waiting for the baby to come....esp those who made it 40 weeks or longer! Babies really do come out! :o)

39 Weeks and Still Holding Strong....

Loving the "no makeup early morning omg i'm still pregnant don't you dare mention you thought i should have already had the baby i'm so swollen and tired why won't this baby come out already" look on my face?

39 weeks today and it's also Mini Me's birthday! I think we are safe to say no baby is coming today! I feel terrific. Ok as terrific as a woman can feel pregnant and at the end. What I mean to say is....I don't feel BIRTHY today! Figures since my parents came into town on Sunday and are leaving tomorrow...which means I'll give birth when they leave.

I was soooo hoping labor would start last night at 8pm...just like Lily....I gave birth on her 39 week change too!

Ok enough complaining! (I'm entitled right?)

Had horrible dreams last night that Reid is really a Bridgette and I didn't have an outfit for her to wear home....what a shock that would be. I also am worried too many ppl will be giving birth at the birthing center and I won't have a room (they only have 2 suites) I also had a dream last night that hubs wouldn't wake up and I went to the BC w/o him and his cell was downstairs and he missed the birth. Needless to say I'm a ball of what if's right now....

Sad to say I'd welcome the pain of childbirth...I'm dying to see my baby! Can't wait to snuggle and inhale him!!

Sweets for My Sweets

I was stalking blogs yesterday and ran across a Lovey Treat. I had everything on hand and whipped it up before the kids got home yesterday.....I love having after school treats for my kids. Of course Mini Me shouts she wants me to make her my decorative cookies for her class for Wed. (it's her bday) and I had to politely say NO.....too much work in short time! :o) think I'll do my Jello Cookies instead! Can't go wrong w/those!

Love Treats

Simple ingredients...

Candy Melts

Sorry for the confusion yesterday.....I didn't think of my title until everyone was commenting about thinking it was me in labor. Heck fire...y'all know me...I'll be blogging while panting! I labor at home until the last possible second before heading in. I'll need a distraction and blogging will do. Besides...I'll need to read your words of encouragement too.....I don't mind doing it natural.....I just mind the pain!

Talked to my neighbor yesterday and heard her little man named Griffin squeaking in the background....AWWWWWWWWWWWWW nothing like hearing the sweet sounds of a newborn!

Yes it made me want to see Reid even more.

She's In Labor

Not neighbor next door. The one pregnant w/her 5th too! I got her txt when I woke up this morning that at around 2ish her water broke! Can you say Birth Envy! haha....

Then her sister just txt a few minutes ago telling me she was a 10 and pushing! Jealous again! This is the chick who's been hanging at 4cm for 2 weeks...I'm surprised he didn't fall out! :o) Our due dates are (were) 2 days apart...I told her she was going first.

Now ...just got another txt saying she had Griffin at 8:58 and he was 8lbs....I'm waiting for pics...gotta love technology!!!

I think baby R has taken up residence. My MIL jokes that he can hear Lily and has decided it's not worth coming out just yet.....I hate to tell him but she won't be settling down any time soon!

Speaking of inlaws came over on Saturday to baby sit! Yep, hubs and I went to dinner on a Saturday night and then ran errands. I actually got him in the mall for a little Mini Me birthday shopping......then a few more places! Guess what? Lily survived! haha (hubs is always in a rush to get'm more chill)

Friday was a fun mail day....Look what came...Brandy over at Jumping Jack sent this adorable set in the mail for us.....HOW TALENTED IS SHE?

(you probably can't see...but her Sunfire Creative name is printed on the stinkin cute!)

I totally screamed when I saw this....ahhhhhh He's gonna look so precious!

I've got her making Lily a matching dress for some Giddy Up pics once Reid arrives! I'll show it off too! (just need you Reid)

Head on over to her Etsy store and grab a gift for your baby or a baby shower gift quick!

Lazy Nesting Momma....(and nursery pics)

I'm totally lazy.....but love these things

Have you seen the 3M velcro mounting stickers? You can hang pictures etc with them w/o nailing holes in your wall. I'm all about that. 1 holds up to 3lb...2 6lbs and 4 12lbs. So you can hang a really nice size picture. I even tried it w/a wooden shelf and it held for a year. I ended up just taking it off the wall to hang a clock mess and no nail holes.

So I've been hanging all kinds of things lately w/o the guilt of nail holes (if you knew my hubs you know my concern)

Last night I hung some things in the babies room...guilt free.

Hubs is killing me though. See Lily still sleeps in our room (remember her new platform bed we built her here) I am not sure she will ever make it to her room...but I've got a few years to worry...

For now new baby coming and he'll get his own room for now....later he'll share w/Lily!

A few months back I decided to switch oldest child's room w/the babies room.....He had the biggest closet of all the rooms and I could fit a dresser and 2 kids clothes in there so I wanted that room NOW for Lily and Reid. No sense in doing it later .....

To make the move even more enticing (Lily's old room is the smallest) we headed to IKEA and bought oldest child all new it looks like a cool college apartment. He got new dressers...night stand and futon style bed. Now he's got a couch in the day and bed at night! He loves his new room! (thanks IKEA for awesome stuff at terrific prices)

I hung his cork board for him last night w/those sticky velcro. I told him the cork board only weighed like 1lb and these stickers would hold almost 6lbs.

In the middle of the night I heard a loud BANG BANG. Ohhhh darn I thought...something fell off the wall...I guess those stickers didn't work after all. When I woke up I wondered what fell in the babies room....and checked and nothing...(Most of the things are super light so I thought surely not)

When Grayson woke up I asked if his cork board fell and he said yes....I was shocked b/c it was lighter than the things in the babies room. About 5 mins later he said I guess I'll need more sticky things to hold the lamp up.

"What do you mean lamp up?"

"Well I hung that huge clip on lamp off the top of the cork board"

" silly nut you can't hang massive lamps on the's for pictures and such not hanging objects off the pictures too"

No wonder the sucker fell off the wall!

Back to Lily and Reid's room.....

So hubs is looking around at what I'm hanging....(he likes blank canvases)

"Why are you making this a cowboy room"

"UMMM well hello honey...that's Reid's theme"

"But this is Lily's room too"

"No it isn't she sleeps w/us...the day she sleeps in here will probably be 2 more years from now and then I'll add her bed and stuff on (points to side w/rocking chair and changing table) this side of the room and R can have this side"

"Well then don't decorate that side w/cowboys stuff b/c it's hers"

"But I just said I will in 2 years from now when she's here...for now it's his room. All she does is change clothes in here"

Needless to say I lost part of that argument ....the glider and lamp still remain pink....everything else is cowboy. The only reason I am getting to hang the curtain on her side is b/c the rod is white and one day I can change the curtain to her pink ones for her side (since her side will have the window)

Hubs already got the themes going to match too....Lily has the owl outdoors theme....Reid will have the camping theme (we saved the big boys stuff when they outgrew it) I've got a ton of adorable decorations from the camping theme!

So.....I have half a cowboy room......and half a pink princess....tis all good!

Here are a few pics...

My Bladder Is Not A Pillow

Hey Y'all....

38 weeks yesterday and still ticking strong. Had Midwife appt yesterday and AGAIN they tell me he's a big'un....I say BRING IT ON PELVIS.

R's position is still head down (been that way since 24 weeks) and totally and I mean totally down there. She showed me and I was amazed he wasn't poking out saying hello.

That would explain why I go pee every 2 mins and when he hits my bladder I start sweating...I think I concentrate more on making it to the bathroom than anything else!

My neighbor next door (who is due 2 days after me) is 4cm dilated! HELLO...........CAN YOU SAY JEALOUS?! I don't ever get checked at my appts....I hate hearing "Sorry ur still a 0" I don't ever dilate until the day I'm in why bother disappointing me. With Lily I labored from 8pm and then 4am water checked at 9am (only a 1) came back at 11:30am I was a 3....12:30pm was a 4...had her at 1:11pm. Hey Reid...see that pattern...let's do that too!

So I sit/stand and wait for his when you see a blog update saying

start praying for a safe and speedy birth! Pictures will follow....and if it's not until February then please only say kind things to me!

Unlike the chick at Walmart on Monday. I took Mini Me for her glasses....(see precious photo below)

I'm waiting my turn to order a pair of lenses and this chick is staring at me. She comes up to me (like in my comfort zone...too close up to me) and whispers if I live around here. I thought maybe she needed directions...

I said "Yes I do."

She said ...'when are you due' .....

me: "In a few weeks"

her "you look miserable"

me: (thinks ummmm geez you freak...that was sweet) "Well I'm ok.....thanks"

her: "i'm a physical therapist and I wouldn't dare touch you right now, but I can see you're in pain"

me: "well not anymore than usual...I'm pretty used to it...this is my 5th baby..."

her: "well I'm also a pilates instructor and I help women get back into shape and find their abs again"

me: (ok step back lady...ur not insulting me) "Abs...what are abs...haven't seen those in years"

she then proceeds to blah blah blah...and all I want to do is runnnnnnnnnnnnnnn. Finally it's my turn and I tell her it was nice talking to her and I needed to order now...

Maybe I'm hormonal..maybe she was looking for a friend...but whatever it was ...DON'T COME UP TO A PREGNANT WOMAN TELLING HER SHE LOOKS MISERABLE AND YOU CAN GET HER IN SHAPE....bite me!

Sooo with that note...on the topic of food! haha

I made a Pineapple Upside Down Cake yesterday for the inlaws...(ok 2 since the recipe was for 8x8 pan and I'm feeding an army)

IT WAS A HUGE HIT THAT EVERYONE HAD 2NDS, even hubs. In fact I'm ORDERED asked to make another one today. And next week I'm making the French Version called Tarte Tatin that uses apples and cinnamon instead of pineapples...SOUNDS AWESOME HUH?

I used the old Betty Crocker recipe and won't try another since this was moist and FANTASTIC. (oh I added the cherries after I flipped it in the end)

Pineapple Upside Down Cake

1/4 cup butter or margarine
2/3 cup packed brown sugar
9 slices pineapple in juice (from 14-oz can), drained
9 maraschino cherries without stems, if desired
1 1/3 cups Gold Medal® all-purpose flour
1 cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup shortening
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup milk
1 egg

  1. Heat oven to 350°F. In 9-inch square pan, melt butter in oven. Sprinkle brown sugar evenly over melted butter. Arrange pineapple slices over brown sugar. Place cherry in center of each pineapple slice.
  2. In medium bowl, beat remaining ingredients with electric mixer on low speed 30 seconds, scraping bowl constantly. Beat on high speed 3 minutes, scraping bowl occasionally. Pour batter over pineapple and cherries.
  3. Bake 50 to 55 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Immediately place heatproof serving plate upside down over pan; turn plate and pan over. Leave pan over cake a few minutes so brown sugar mixture can drizzle over cake; remove pan. Serve warm. Store cake loosely covered.

Funny Things Our Kids Say and Do....

I love hearing the sweet things our babes say...

Especially a growing 2 year old. Their minds are like little sponges!

I stepped out of the shower this morning and Lily looked down at the mat in front of the shower and shouted

"Look Momma...Paw Prints" haha

or she's been watching them talk about 'thinking outside the box' on the telly....well she got one of those plastic bins and said "Look momma....I'm tinkin in a box" (yes baby yes you are)

Last night during dinner her arm brushed mine w/her fork...she looked down and then shout
"Tag you're it"

I'm loving how she'll throw things and shout "BOMBS AWAY"

A few days ago she got into my utensil drawer and got out my rubber circle gripper (that helps open cans) and my basting brush we use for BBQ when grilling. She pretended the yellow circle was her yellow paint and started painting our walls! I love her creative imagination.

She went and got the dog and dragged led him to his sleeping spot and told him to hush and go night night...the baby was sleeping.

I have no idea where she gets her creative side.....but I hope she never changes!

On another note....Mother of the year award goes to me again!

Do you remember this post? Skip down to the oldest child getting glasses part...

Well obviously Mini Me can't see either and I never knew. I thought school did eye exams twice a year?

She complained about not being able to see the tv screen when selecting shows to watch on the DVR from the kitchen....(deep sigh) so I took Grayson's glasses off and BOOM...SHE CAN READ....poor baby...I asked how long this has been going on...she said since the beginning of the year. Hellllllllllllllllo. Can my children please let me know when they see blur instead of a clear image.

I took her to the eye dr yesterday and she has a slight astigmatism and is near sighted. He said it's not bad enough to wear them 24/7 but it will be soon. So off we go to pick a pair of glasses out. We started w/the kids and found an awesome pair...but her head is a bit bigger than the kids we went the next size up. Sadly they didn't have that pair and had to settle w/some black ones. She opt'd for stand by for her frames to come in! I'm just excited that the child will finally be able to see!

I sat child #2 down and he's got 20/20....(I assume...) I just held up fingers at the end of the hall and he could see...the other 2 couldn't w/o the glasses! I think I'm ok for now w/this one!

Popcorn Movie Theme Party...and Heart Break

The toughest part of being a mommy is when you see your kids feelings hurt. I'm trying to raise my babies treating others how they want to be treated. I want them to stop and think how they would feel. Now I'm not saying my kids are perfect at it...but they have terrific hearts and truly try to be great friends with others. Enter my Mini Me....she tries to play with just about everyone...and is fast learning her friends can be mean.

Her true birthday is at the end of the month and I was afraid I wouldn't make it w/the new baby coming...(now that I've typed that...He'll be a week late) so we planned her party for this weekend.

Yes my fault...I only gave a week and half notice to most girls...but I figure nothings going on in most homes w/it being winter and holidays were over......

She invited about 5 girls....and 2 couldn't come. Great...a total of 4 will be fun! Tuesday one girl (who calls Mini Me a million times a day and they play every week) called to say she wanted to have a play date with another girl on the party day and wanted to bring said girl to the party. 1. ummm hello rude 2. kate doesn't even play or talk to the other girl. She told her friend no that she was sorry...she was keeping the party small. So her so called friend so 'Well fine I'm not coming" and she didn't.

Friday another little girl told Kate that she was invited to another party on Thursday and it looked fun so she wasn't going to Kate's now. (no words to describe that there)

Now down to 2 girls....

30 mins before the party another one of the girls called to say her mom said she couldn't come to her party b/c she went to a sleepover the night before and her mom said it was too late. (Ok Kate's party is from 5-8) and besides they were going to go to a party at 6.

Kate's face fell....she was on the verge of tears and I had no idea what to heart broke. She said

"mommy do you think _____ is going to show up? anyone coming?"

She decided to txt the last girl and called her answer....5' came and went...finally at 5:25 said girl called and said she was late......she showed up 45 mins late. Ugh

We had already eaten and Kate had started her craft (I mean what was I to do?) I had kept my 'happy's all great' face on and yet inside I wanted to spank each girl for the worst manners in the world. I wanted to punch the mother's for allowing their daughter's behavior in the first place. What examples are they setting?

We ended up making the most of the party...and Kate had a good time w/her friend.

I felt like a bad mother b/c I usually spend a month planning (it takes that long for my creative side to come out) and I only did this in a week....I wish I had thought of more for Kate....She is the sweetest child in the world...and I'm proud she's my daughter! I love how she handled her friends canceling for horrible reasons and I love how she handled the last min ones too. I think I would have thrown myself down crying at her age! haha

Here are some of the party pictures....I went with a Popcorn Movie Theme....

Sign on Door Greeting Guests (Ok guest)

I forgot to order water bottle labels so prints paper real quick w/some movie clip art

Prize bar...Kate handed out awards and said something nice about her friend before she awarded it to her. (her idea...made me smile)

they had glasses...light up rings and masks

Popcorn Cupcakes

Lily had to join the fun! what are little sister's for?

The cupcakes were easy to do...just time time time consuming! :o) cutting marshmallows is sticky work.

Bake your cupcakes and had 1/4 cup or so of white icing to a ziploc baggie. Take white and yellow marshmallows (buy the assorted color bag and separate the yellow) and cut into thirds and lay out in a clover pattern. (see photo)

Then take some icing and put a dollop in the middle of the clover and attached 1 marshmallow to the center...Let dry for a bit...(I waited only as long as it took me to make 13 for each cupcake)

Spread some white icing to the top of the cupcake and then stick on all your popcorn! Viola!

Of course my boys told me they looked like flowers! Thanks boys! :o)

The Double Digit Party.......Mini Me's 10th!

Mini Me's 'real' double digit birthday is at the end of the month. I didn't want to take any chances of not making it, so we decided to have her 'small' party this weekend. She was quite bummed it's not a sleepover...but mom is not the mood for a bunch of screaming wide awake girls. (or the drama)

So .......we are having a "movie theme" birthday party.

We printed 'movie tickets' for the invites

Movie of choice? Ramona and Beezus (thanks Angie)

I'm making these cupcakes for the party.....

Basically I'm keeping the red and white theme and will decorate accordingly!

She wants to do the same craft as last year....(none of the girls from last year will be here for this years party) so I think they will enjoy it just like before....

I bought a huge bag of Nylon Loops from Hobby Lobby ($3.47 and then used coupon) you basically loop them around your fingers and can make just about anything. The girls last year made long scarves! Here's a how to in case you need a fun inexpensive craft for a birthday party

Things You'll Need:

  • at least 100 nylon loops, up to 250 if you make handles
  • fingers

  1. With fingers on one hand pointing up, loop one nylon loop around your index finger.

  2. Twist loop one time and loop over middle finger. (It does not matter which direction it is twisted.)

  3. Repeat for the ring and pinkie fingers.

  4. Repeat steps 1 thru 3 with a second loop. Now you should have two loops twisted onto your fingers.

  5. Pull the bottom loop on your index finger and stretch it over the top loop and off your finger.

  6. Repeat this with other fingers until there is only one nylon loop twisted on your fingers. (You can pull the loops off to hang either in front or behind your hand, whichever you prefer, as long as they are all the same direction.)

  7. Repeat steps 4 thru 6....

  8. .... until the desired length is reached.
