Winner Winner Chicken Dinner

Tie on the apron strings ladies...this recipe rocked the family's socks off! My In Laws too! The flavor from this jalapeno paste cooked to perfection on the chicken was faaaaaantastic. The aroma while it was baking had me giddy with excitement! Give this a try

Jalapeno Roast Chicken

Jalapeno paste:

  • 1/2 cup packed fresh oregano leaves or 1/3 cup dried oregano
  • 1 shallot, peeled and roughly chopped
  • 4 garlic cloves, peeled
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 jalapeno, stemmed and seeded
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper

I doubled the paste since we did this on 7 huge massive skin on bone in chicken breasts!
After you make the paste ....put on some disposable gloves b/c this is going to get messy!
Pull the skin up and make a pocket...take some of the mixture and rub inside...massage it in and all around under the skin. Do this with all of the chicken. Make sure you take the left over and rub on the tops too....

I baked them at 350 for about 1 hr. (each oven varies so check it)

Jalapeno paste:

  • 1/2 cup packed fresh oregano leaves or 1/3 cup dried oregano
  • 1 shallot, peeled and roughly chopped
  • 4 garlic cloves, peeled
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 jalapeno, stemmed and seeded
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper

For a fantastic side dish?

Chile and Cheese Rice

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/4 large white onion, minced
  • 1 cup long-grain white rice
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 ears fresh corn, kernels removed or 2 cups frozen corn, thawed
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 poblano chiles, charred, peeled, stemmed, seeded, and chopped * see Cook's Note
  • 1/4 cup Mexican crema or sour cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Monterey Jack cheese

Heat the oil in a medium-size heavy skillet over medium-high heat. Add the onion, and saute for until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add the rice and cook until the rice is opaque, about 10 minutes. Stir in the water and the corn kernels, then season the water with salt and pepper, to taste. Bring the mixture to a boil. Reduce the heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer until the rice is tender, about for 15 minutes.

Preheat a broiler. Using a fork, fluff the rice and stir in the chopped poblanos. Transfer the rice to a 7 by 10-inch baking dish. Drizzle with the creama or sour cream and sprinkle the cheese over the top. Broil until the top is browned in spots and the cheese has melted, about 5 to 8 minutes.

Remove from the oven and serve.

*Cooks Note: To char the chiles (or any fresh chile): Put the chiles over a gas flame or underneath the broiler and cook until they are blackened on all sides. Enclose them in a plastic bag and let stand for 10 minutes to steam, which will make them easier to peel. Peel, stem, and seed the chiles. Once peeled, the chiles may be chopped, sliced or stuffed.

We ended up using the poblano pepper, but realized when it was all said and done that a can or 2 of chopped green chiles would have been easier and taste just as good!!!! (probably better)

Why Is It .........

Why is it that you can lay a sleeping baby down...stare at him to double check he's asleep....sneak away climb into bed ...snuggle down in the warm covers only to hear the baby wake up and cry?

Why is it you can hold your pee all day and the phone/door never rings/knocks and the minute your bum hits the toilet lid they do?

Why is it your baby knows the minute you get them dressed in fresh clothes and are in a hurry to leave the house... they puke once you place them in the carrier?

Why is it the day you choose to get a shower and wash your hair the baby screams and screams wanting to be held? but the days you choose not to the baby sits there w/the happiest grin and sits for hours?

Why is it when you finally get your baby to sleep and lay them down for the night they choose then to make the biggest poo in their diaper? (now you have to change them to only wake them back up again)

Why is it your toddler only notices you have left the room when you go to lay a sleeping baby down for a nap...? Only to scream "Mommy where are you?" as loudly as she can while running to the baby's room waking the baby up.

Why is it your baby is a complete angel until you decide to head out to the store? Only to have them scream bloody murder like you've pinched them.

Why is it your house looks spotless when no one is coming to visit...the minute it gets dirty company comes?

Why is it your child is never sick a day in their life until the day you and your hubs are set to leave on a couple's vacation? (not now, but happened in the past)

Why is it your child never breaks anything in your house and the first time you visit a friend for a playgroup they break something within mins of being there? (yes TK at your house)

Why is it the first time you lay down for a much needed nap the delivery guy knocks so loudly you jump from your skin and wakes you up? It's like they knew.

Why is it when you have a craving for something and head to the store they don't have it?

Why is it you head to the store for 1 item only to come home with a car full of things but not that 1 item?

Guess What?

So is Dude Friend 2 months today or Friday?...which do you count....since I gave birth on Tuesday the 1st and today is Tuesday....but Friday is the 1st...which do you go by? Either way he's darn cute!

We actually ventured out of the house this morning....Oldest child forgot a French project...I've decided to give 1 free pass a year to take forgotten things to the big kids. High school is pretty far away (thanks stupid zoning) and it was raining and cold...and I've got a crazy 2 yr old and newbie to take for the hr total drive...not my idea of happiness, but a mom must be a mom sometimes..... off I go.

Both did great in the car....sadly the receptionist needs a new tude! No smiles and totally needed a happy pill. I was all smiles and sweet. I thought for sure Lily would make her smile but nope. Lily looks up at the sign above the lady's head and starts spelling the letters...well I was sooo proud of her to recognize them...but I guess the lady couldn't be bothered! All in 2nd venture out w/the kids went well....I just might tackle Target next week!

That's My Girl

Don't ya love this stage? When they've discovered their nostrils? Thankfully she just sticks her fingers in there and says ewwwwwwwwwwww. I refuse to have a boogey eater!

When she saw this picture she said...."Oh wook...wiwy is holdin da bebe....Hey I want to try that!" and then proceeded to stick her finger in her nose like the picture! Lovely! haha

Lily turned 2 1/2 a few days ago and her vocabulary has grown in the past weeks....I think of how far she has come in the past 6 months...what's another 6 months going to be like when she's 3? Shesh! She went from calling the oldest child 'Din Din' to his actual name Grayson. It's clear as a bell. She has full conversations with you now that totally crack us up.

The other day hubs was pulling his truck in the driveway and paused to rev the engine....Lily said "Ohhh wook mommy...daddy is being silly" She's starting to put ideas and everyday life into perspective now. Sad my baby is getting bigger!

She has these inventive conversations with her babies. They go on all sorts of adventures in the living room. Scary at how her mind works. Hubs and I will sit and stare at her and wonder where it all comes from (points to hubs) She even creates little voices for her friends...

She's showing an interest in her letters...more than just singing the ABC song...she points to letters she sees in her everyday life and wants to know what it is. She is constantly bringing me her doodle board to write letters.....I start homeschooling her in the fall for preschool...I think it's going to be a blast! Who doesn't love 3 yr olds?!!!!

I'm making a Bacon and Blue Cheese stuffed Chicken Breasts and creamy broccoli side dish (5 ingredient fix)

and Roasted Jalapeno Chicken Breasts w/a Chile Cheese Rice side dish (mexican made easy)

this stay tuned!!!

Dinner for Dollars.....

Dinner...Come and Get it....

I've been making a few Creamy Tomato Soups lately...(ok as in the lately before Reid was born...when I had more time to experiment) Just trying to find one that is quick yet yummy!

One of my daily recipe sites that send me recipes had one that stood out. The topic....Dinner's under $1. Oh hello...stop the train! I need more of these type of recipes that can save my growing family money.

We love grilled cheese and soup night.....last night was no different.

Creamy Tomato Soup and Grilled Sourdough cheese w/pico sandwiches (Sourdough w/velvetta cheese...add a bit of fresh pico to it before grilled....ohhh man oh man)

Most of the stuff you need to have on hand...hubs had to run out and buy the heavy whipping cream....

This recipe turned out great!

If you have some chicken broth...crushed tomatoes....heavy cream then you have pretty much this soup made in the shade!

Dessert last night was Dirt Cups...(minus the worms...I forgot)

Another terrific Dollar meal....

Refried Bean Tostadas

Corn tortillas put inside muffin tins...filled w/refried beans and cheese! How simple and awesome! Can't wait to try this this weekend....Mini Me will love to help out!!

Don't forget about the Dallas Blogger Meet up at the end of April. I'll be there for Saturday brunch...w/Dude Friend in tow!!! (can't be far from his food source) Can't wait to meet some of you!.....If you want details...hit Neely up for the info....A Complete Waste of Make up.

First She's Sour ....then She's Sweet

I love this little girl. I still say she's a Sour Patch Kid....First she's sour then she's sweet.

She throws the biggest tantrums on a daily basis. For 15+ mins. I've been just ignoring her...but man is she loud and mean! Then in 2 secs flat she comes over for loving and a wipey (tissue for her face) and gives hugs. But the tantrum can start all over again just with a flick of a finger. Sadly I'm new to this....out of 5 kids...she is the first. And listen up Reid....she will be the last.

But show off her sweet funny side...
I found her playing w/her mini friends yesterday....she gave them all beds and covered some up. She will make a great mommy!

Here was a sweet picture of her during dinner. She climbed up between Daddy and Sissy and threw her arms around them and said...

"Come here guys....I yove (love) you"

Then she was on the floor w/Dude Friend and his new play mat...she noticed his hand couldn't reach the toys and said

"Here Bruver (brother) let me help you pay w/toys"

Hey Good Looking..Whatcha Got Cooking?

Last night I decided to cook again...I truly miss preparing fun meals for the family!!!! One day I'll be back full throttle!

Now this meal wasn't that hard to make...but working w/dough and hot oil are not a combo when toting a 7 WEEK OLD TODAY around....notice the bold caps? Yep Dude Friend is 7 weeks today. He slept 5.25 hrs last night....woolalahoo! I think that could possibly be because he only took 4 20-30min cat naps yesterday....ugh but I'll take sleep where I can get it.

On the menu for last night? Yumminess!

I was watching the Food Network again and caught 5 IngredientFix w/Claire.....she made a Romaine salad w/dough croutons and White Pizza

Ingredients for Salad

Romaine lettuce cut into chunks

fresh lemon juice

olive oil

Parmesan cheese

pizza dough

Heat some olive oil over med low heat. Roll pizza dough out and then cut into strips. Take some scissors and snip chunks into hot oil. Take out when browned (only a few secs so watch them closely) and toss in some Parmesan cheese to coat. Set aside

Toss lettuce...lemon juice..olive oil...salt and pepper and more Parmesan cheese. Toss in croutons. wow it was incredible!

Ingredients for White Pizza

We used pre-made Naan Bread

olive oil

garlic powder

Mozzarella cheese

Ricotta cheese

Oregano (said to use fresh...only had dried on hand)

Heat oven to 400

Spread oil on naan...then sprinkle garlic powder over that

Spread a layer of Mozzarella cheese and then put dollops of Ricotta over the pizza. Sprinkle oregano and bake until brown!

This was sooo tasty last night...can't wait to make again!

I love this picture of Lily...she never and I repeat never lets us up things in her hair....I snapped a quick photo before she ripped it out. I sooo wish this child would let me play w/her hair.

It's Awfully Quiet.....Anyone Seen Lily?

Since having Dude Friend I finally got Lily weaned (yes nursed her while pregnant)

BUT! Yes there's always a but......she would nurse to sleep *INSERT GASP*.....yes yes I know, but the child doesn't sleep and anything to help it along I would/will do.

After Reid I couldn't lay down w/her like that anymore to get her down for naps. I tried having her lay w/me on the couch when it was naptime and that lasted 2 days! I no longer push it. The first couple of days she would start to pass out at 4pm. Well that would be a disaster since when she takes her a hour nap at 1pm and then she doesn't crash at night until I had to keep her up and she was a grump grump!

She now passes out in 2 secs sometime between 7:45 and 8:45! We feel like a new couple. Now if we can just get Reid on an 8pm bedtime schedule we can have in house date nights.

Saturday night Lily ran into the kitchen and tried to open the pantry...this was about 8:30....We told her no...that the pantry was closed for the night. She screamed and ran off...she shouted "I'm MADDDDDDDDDDDDDDD"......

A few minutes later it was really quiet....too quiet....I figured she had gotten the pantry open and was quietly eating food. Nope....Here's what we found

Passed out cold under the table!!!

Literally now that she has no nap she can go from zero to crash in minutes flat! I sure do miss naps....but I sure do love a child that is in bed before 10pm! Last night she fell asleep while I was folding laundry...time check...7:45. She sleeps 10-12 hrs and that is a huge step up from her 8 hrs total! Slowly but surely she is coming around! Now if only I can get this stubborn girl potty trained.

Foto Friday and Hodge Podge Thoughts....

The boy has a lot of pink toys thanks to his wild thang sissy. I just recently bought him some "dude" burp boy colors. We had tons of pink girly colored burp clothes left over from Lily and I didn't see the need for new ones. Except 2 things....#1 Reid is a puker and I was running out of burp cloths each day #2...when in public I want to be proud I'm holding a boy!

One terrific difference between Lily and Dude Friend.....he lets me put him down to sleep...and even slightly awake. Lily....not on your life.....if she was even slightly aware she would pop those little eyes open. He even will fuss a bit and then put himself back to sleep....
I'm praying that means I've got a sleeper on my hands...

Did I mention that the day we gave birth to Reid (ok I did the birthin) Lily quit taking all naps. 1. That's bad since she's 2....2. that's terrific b/c guess what? She wouldn't be ready for bed until close to 10pm...NOW SHE PASSES OUT AT 8:30...WE FEEL LIKE NORMAL PARENT'S AGAIN. Now when dude starts hitting the hay by will be sailing....the big kids will have us back to themselves again! haha

Operation shrink the belly begins on if you notice a bit of hostile writings in the next few weeks...blame it on that! Hubs is bringing home our favorite Mexican food tonight that I will graciously make last through tomorrow's lunch!

Things I'll miss getting back into my pre pregnancy fighting weight?
~handfuls of M&M's whenever I feel like it...
~dr pepper with dinner
~cadbury eggs at Easter
~my coffee with full strength creamer in the morning
~more than 2 pieces of pizza on pizza night
~real salad dressing (back to my red wine vinegar stuff)

Things I won't miss....
~muffin tops...and not the kind on breakfast foods!!

My birthday is coming up next month so I'm determined to get a jump start and not weigh the same today as I do then! Note to self...eating what you want during your 5th pregnancy was probably not a good thing!

My baby is 6 Weeks...Minute by Minute in My Life

Dude Friend is growing by leaps and bounds.....

He was 6 weeks yesterday....

I thought I would jot down what a day in the life of Dude Friend is like...

Now keep in mind these are just times w/Dude Friend...I'll add with blue what I do in between those times you can see what I don't get done Now I can show what I do on a daily basis.

Dude Friend usually goes to bed around 10, but...lately it's been closer to 11pm UGH

Monday Night...he cried from 8-11 on and off...smiling and playing and then cries for no reason...smiles and plays and then cries for no reason..not really wanting to eat...just make his mommy sweat and bounce and sing and coo to keep him happy hoping he would pass out...

FINALLY....he eats and

10:50pm Dude in his crib for the night...(or hours in his case)

1:50-2:50am Dude wakes for a feeding

5:20am Dude wakes...(I lay there willing him to go back to sleep....does no good)

I'm too tired LAZY so I lay him next to me to nurse....

6:20am burp switch sides

7 am try to settle him on the other boob...I'm tired

(do this for a hr)

Now I realize if I would quit being lazy I might get him back down...but from experience...he always wakes at 6am....then again at 6:40 and then usually stays I've just been putting him asleep w/me to make him go until 8

8:30-9:30 dude wakes up for good...change his diaper and head downstairs to start coffee...rush to feed dude who is acting like he's never eaten!

after this I'm grabbing Lily some breakfast some coffee

10:20-10:35 nap in crib

got Lily dressed

10:45-11:15 nurses

grabbed a fast shower....with dude watching me and Lily walking in and out of the room....wanted to wash hair...knew there was no time...lucky to get the shower

12:05-12:35 nap

Lily decides to talk as loud as she can and giggle and run when I try to tell her to use inside voice....instead we fix lunch together and she is happy to drink from a big girl cup at the table w/o her sippy lid. I grab a quick bite too...and then realize Dude is waking up...where I end up shoving the rest in my mouth ...thus eating too fast and realize I'm still hungry!

12:35-1:20 nurses dude

1:20-1:25 dude naps on couch...yes for 5 mins. That gave me enough time to unload the dryer and start to fold 5 items before he screamed!

(at this point I walk around w/him on my shoulder. He usually naps at noonish until 3, but the past 3 days he thought that was a bad, not so much!)

1:49- 2:46

actually heard him fussing at 2:26 but ignored him and he just fell back asleep until 2:46...he fusses in his sleep and I've learned to not hop up and run just yet.

Lily and I get her doodle writing toy out and practice letters....she knows her ABC' I'm trying to get her to read them. she loves asking me to write letters for her... She so far she only recognizes O, S, L, W, and T (random huh?) She is obsessed w/W's for some reason!!!

2:50 changed Reid's diaper....and then off to feed him

2:52-3:14 nursed and then Reid had a blow out in his diaper that needed attention....

3:16-3:40...finished feeding Dude while watching Lily take her bucket of crayons and throw them around the room. While nursing dude I txt hubs to google a nursing watch I want to have

...he txt back the price of them.....$100...I txt back...'are you kidding?...." he txt back...nothing...granted he's not much of a txt'er so I'm lucky I got the first one.

3:53 Dude fell asleep on my shoulder....carried him upstairs at 3:58 to lay him in his crib...this is where Lily noticed I was missing from downstairs and came busting into his room shouting "what you doing momma...." where upon jolting dude from his sleep.....where upon I put a binky in his mouth and bounced his bottom to lull him back to sleep ...all the while covering Lily's mouth w/my other hand and rushing from the room. (hears thunder)

4:03-4:36 I made it downstairs w/Dude still in his crib for a nap....(hears thunder and prays the baby doesn't wake...doesn't the thunder know I need this break??)

This is where I realized I had yet to pee all day (TMI get over it) It's the small things in life we take for granted....

4:15 (still hears thunder and heard baby stirring on monitor....go away thunder go away...)

This is the time I use to wonder what I'm fixing for dinner...we had those bean and cheese casserole things that I posted for monday twice now....I think hubs would like to move on. Too tired to be creative...tonight's dinner I have a feeling will not be good!

Lily is rooting for a snack....she wanted cheese and crackers...hmmmm I'm craving some swiss cheese on triscuits and a peach Fresca now!

After Reid is awake Lily and I change his diaper...and try to play with him...

5:05-5:42 Dude Friend eats

hubs comes in and starts fixing dinner...tonight we thought...buttered pasta w/pesto and bread

then another diaper change....and

6:05 dude falls asleep on my shoulder

6:18 lay dude down in his crib

I scarfed down my pasta all before I hear a whimper....

6:35 Dude is chilling on my shoulder while we clean up dinner

7:00-7:10 dude fell asleep on my chest while we play with Lily in the living room....

7:10-7:30 Fed Dude....

Lily has taken this moment to realize my hands are not free and grabbed her bucket of crayons and is throwing them in handfuls around the room. I'm not amused at this point...I feel like my mothering skills have up and flown out the window. At this point I use the scary mom voice and say "I'm going to count to 3 and you need to stop or you will go to time out....1...2.............3" by this point she does stop...but not b/c of my scary mom was because she was out of crayons.

7:30-7:50 Sissy and I bathe dude friend and she helps....more throws water in the air and trying to fall in the tub w/dude.

Then we dress dude and get sissy in her night nights...more or less me chasing her around the house trying to get her dressed.

8:00-8:45 Dude eats....

Daddy comes in to rescue a sleeping Lily from me....and dude is asleep so I try to lay him in his crib too...COULD THIS BE WE ACTUALLY HAVE SOME TIME TOGETHER?

NOPE...dude wakes upon me laying him down and I can't soothe him back to sleep....

so much for couple time

Bring dude down and daddy and I play with a fussy/happy/fussy/happy baby until finally he is ready for bed.

10:00-10:40 Dude eats and crashes in his bed for the night. (he only lasted 3 hrs and woke by 1:40....)

Now you know what I do all day. Pretty much get not a thing done...I'm tired....scatterbrained and my house stays in constant disarray!

Yea to those first few months of TOTALLY CHAOS Motherhood!

Beans Beans the Wonderful Fruit

All this nursing has made me have less time in the kitchen and more time on the couch! So when in doubt? Turn on the cooking channel. Early Saturday morning I caught a show I have not seen before on Food Network called Mexican Made Easy....she made the most incredible dishes that got me inspired to get in the kitchen (ok for a bit...Dude Friend doesn't let me put him down long) Hubs ran to the store for me to get all the ingredients!

Here's the menu for Sunday dinner....

Mexican Bean Stew

Tortilla Bean and Cheese Casserole

I have to tell you I am totally totally excited! Now I forgot to rinse the beans first (read mixed reviews...most say it doesn't matter) but I've never NOT rinsed beans... I didn't have time to start again....but they were were totally fine after cooking.....The beans simmered on the stove for about 3 hrs!

I didn't really follow the directions as much as I should have when making the casserole....I watched the show and did it more like she did! Mine got too thick and I needed to keep adding more chicken maybe next time I will follow!

I also want to add tons more of the fresh pico...We love pico in this house!

The beans were a bit bland...but still great...might add more pico before blending next time

We added cheese to the top when baking and I think more could be added ....(we love cheese too)

Overall this turned out fantastic! I can't wait to make this again!

Sorry some of the pictures were blurred...I had a heck of a time taking pics w/a baby in my arms...(who started screaming during the process)

Saute pico

Then add your beans and chicken broth

Then blend...(either blender or immersion blender)

Dip corn tortilla on both sides

Stuff w/cheese and fold over

Added cheese to the top before baking

Added pico to the top of mine..hubs added mexican crema

Super Powers....

Lily constantly asks to hold Dude Friend 24/ off we go to prop pillows up for her to "HOLD DA BEBE" ...he actually enjoys it...when he's screaming mad...she can hold him and he stops and just stares at her....this morning he was actually smiling! Love them!!! (she is saying 'cheese' and of course not looking at the camera...she stares off in space!)

What super power would you need right now? I need the power of flying...I think I could get things done around the house faster......

Like last night...I had like 10 things needing to be done at once and was over my head....why on earth do I tackle to cook meals that are time consuming lately? They are the easiest to make...just when you double or triple recipes and have to assemble stuff...ugh! I had just put Dude Friend down for a nap....glanced at the clock and had a few minutes to get dinner in the oven....add to the fact that Lily needed me...the laundry was all over the living ringing....door knocking.....dishes needed to be unloaded (2nd time already) to load the dinner dishes.....

*side note...if some make over show wants to come in and upgrade my kitchen to 2 sinks...2 dishwashers....a double oven and wall of fridges and freezers for my growing family...bring it on....

back to boring story....

Point is? I made these really yummy Stuffed Pizza Rolls from Our Best Bites.....
They turned out super duper fantastic and I can't wait to make them again and do a variation in different pans. I think the key to this in the future for me? Make all the bowls with toppings mixed w/the cheese ahead of all I'll have to do is assemble! I can't say enough about these and the kids adored them. Hubs even went in for 2nds. That's how I know I've got a repeat recipe on my hands!

Stuffed Pizza Rolls

1 roll refrigerated pizza dough* (or make your own)
marinara/pizza sauce (click here to make your own)
2 T grated Parmesan cheese (sorry, I don’t know how to make that)
1 T olive oil or melted butter
1/2 t garlic powder
1 t dried Italian seasoning
mozzerella cheese
Pizza toppings of your choice: ie, ham and pineapple, pepperoni slices, sausage, etc.

Preheat oven to heat specified on pizza dough package. Usually it’s 400 degrees. If you make your own dough, 400 is usually a good heat as well.

Unroll your pizza dough onto a lightly floured surface. Pat or roll the dough so it’s about 12″ by 8″. You’re going to want to cut it into 24 squares, so just eyeball it if you need to. Use a pizza cutter to slice the dough into 24 squares

Place cheese and desired toppings on each square. (Note that you’re not putting the marinara sauce on the dough- it’s for dipping after) Just eyeball how much. You just need to be able to enclose the toppings in the dough so keep that in mind.
When all of your dough squares have cheese and toppings on them, carefully lift up each square and wrap the dough around the toppings. Pinch to make sure each ball is sealed shut and then place them seam side down in a lightly sprayed pie pan (or similar sized dish).

Brush the tops of the dough balls with olive oil or melted butter (I’ve used both and there’s not much difference in result) and then sprinkle with the garlic and Italian seasoning and top with Parmesan cheese.

Am I the only one to shop from I adore the sales and have ordered many times! I just had to get the RuffleButts top and bloomers for Lily for summer.....If you happen to sign up....say I referred you...I'd love earn a credit for all the times I've shopped there!!! Def can't wait too long w/things in the shopping cart....I've come back later that afternoon to purchase and the items were gone! The deals are great at times! I love that they have home baby nursing clothes!

Happy Spring Break and Booooo to Day Light Savings...NOT A FAN! and to all my bloggy friends that are getting the nasty tummy bug that raged through our house.....get well soon!!! (shannon)

Hail to the King......

I didn't take into account how tiny the baby I was using for the Mardi Gras...3 Kings Cake...Fat Tuesday...Shrove Tuesday....however you like to call the day before Lent......for the cupcakes I baked for the family! It was itty bitty......The person who finds the baby is King or Queen for the this case....could choke for the day! ugh! Choking hazard...what kind of mother am I?

All the kids were trying to decide which one held the baby....all were wrong....Guess who won King for the day? HUBS! Who already thinks he's king...and now he just sealed the deal. It was funny...each kid was slowly biting into their cupcake...I was sure one of them had it....I asked hubs and he said nope....I was scratching my head...I knew I put it in one of those....he walks over to me and kisses me...and grins w/the baby between his teeth! SILLY DADDY HE GOT THE BABY.

He said he was chewing and nearly swallowed it it was so tiny. At that moment I was glad he was the one that got it...whew!

For Lent the idea is to give something up for 40 days....a sacrifice....A friend had an even better suggestion...(goodness knows those 40 days are like the new years resolutions for me...I can't keep them)

Here's her thoughts:

It is suggested that instead of "giving up" something, take on something positive like praying for specific persons or issues each day, keeping a prayer journal, visiting a shut-in or calling or writing to someone who needs attentions and the list goes on. You know something positive you can do that will enrich you and someone else. Do it!
I sooooo like her idea better! So as for me...I'm keeping my soda (hee hee) and in return I am going to focus my energy more on the Word. I miss my morning devotions....Now I'm lucky I get pants on these days. So I will devote my 40 days back to my early morning devotions!

(post for yesterday...)
Happy Ash Wednesday....
Ash Wednesday: Indeed, the right time is now. Today is the day of salvation. - 2 Corinthians 6.2

I tried making a cookie cake....but needed help. When the timer beeped I had little Dude Friend in my arms...I asked hubs to take the cookie out....his oven mitt smashed the side of the cookie in....

Dude Friend is really grinning these precious as it's not AS precious at 1 am...when he decides to stay up for 2 hrs +....he'll look up at me in the dark and do it open mouth...wide as he can.....precious grin! Then of course I melt and realize one day he will sleep through the night (hopefully sooner than later) and he will not smile at me at 1am. Love you dude!
