Sweet Smell of PineSol

I thought this hit close to home....and had to share.

I'm not sure if any of you subscribe to the Proverbs 31 daily ministries that come in your email, but do. Odd how some of these enter my mailbox just when I was dealing with the exact same thing at that very moment! God is Good!

Time does pass us by....to think I was just finding out I was pregnant with Reid a year ago and now look....he's 3 months already...and my oldest is a Freshman in High School.....what am I more concerned with? How pretty and perfect my house looks? Or how much time I gave to my children and sat on the floor and played make believe? I want those moments....what do you want?

The Sweet Smell of PineSol™

T. Suzanne Eller

“Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.’” Matthew 19:14 (NIV)

I admit it. I’m the world’s worst when it comes to preserving photos. I have boxes of photos stacked in various cubbyholes. I tried to organize the pictures once. I divided them and placed them in large envelopes. My next step was to put them in albums. They are still in the envelopes — stacked in a box.

My children Melissa, Ryan, and Leslie are now in their 20′s and newly married. The chances of me ever getting these precious memories organized are slim to none, but I’m realizing something powerful. Memories aren’t limited to pictures.

Remember when, Mom? is a common phrase in my house now. We have become the hub, a privilege once reserved for my husband’s parents. At holidays and special weekends, they drive up and unload luggage and pile into the guest rooms. We laugh and reminisce a lot around the table. Remember when we went on treasure hunts in the pasture? Remember when you jumped on the bed and popped Ryan up in the air so high it scared you? Remember that yellow Slip-n-Slide™?

I do remember. But I also remember a young mom with three little ones who worried that her house wasn’t spotless when an unexpected guest showed up. I remember the angst of trying to do everything and the fatigue when my day ended before my chores did.

I also remember days that I threw caution to the wind and jumped on the bed, even though it might make others frown. I grabbed a shovel and gave the kids plastic buckets and we looked for old bottles and trinkets at the abandoned homestead nearby. We mixed dishwashing liquid and water and I laughed out loud as the kids flew like greased lightening across the yellow slippery slide.

Some of those memories were captured in that pre-digital age, but most were not. However, they are etched on the heart of my young adult children.

What they don’t reminisce about is the sweet, sweet smell of PineSol™. Whether my house was perfect or how it compared to others’ is not even on their radar.

Why did I worry so?

Is it good to have order and structure? Sure. But don’t allow the pressure to be the perfect mom keep you from the simplicity of playing with your children. The unmade bed will still be there when you are through, but I promise that a child will grow quickly.

Take a moment today and look past the clutter and the to-do list and be a child again. It might not be a picture-perfect moment, but it will be a memory.

Dear Lord, time passes so fast. Slow me down. Let me enjoy the smallest pleasures. Let me play with my child instead of only knocking down a to-do list. Let me laugh with my teen instead of fussing at him. Thank You for sweet memories, Amen.

"Look I'm a bunny wabbit"

Thanks to my friend Joanne for the "ism's" idea!

I've decided everyone needs a Lily in their life. Mine keeps me on my toes and does the funniest stuff at times. You need a good pair of running shoes and something called Patience though if you have a Lily. She will do off the wall sort of stuff that will make you spew coffee from your nose. She can sneak and catch you totally off guard if you are not careful. She will see how well you use your Patience when in public with her. She will love you for life and melt your heart w/just one kiss. She will belt out singing songs that squeeze your heart strings....or melt you into a puddle of mush when she says..."I need to hold you...I need to hug you" I love my Lily

Remember the "Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeello Gary" moment? (another example) Well...

Yesterday my Lily ran up to me with her fists thrust in front of her and screamed at the top of her lungs....

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH MY FINGERS" (then opened her hands) "OH there you are!"

Laughter is good for the soul...it lifts your spirits in seconds flat.

Everyone needs a Lily!

Break Out the Eggs...

It's my favorite season again! EASTER...who can't love this time??!!

I love sharing the story with the kids again again...As they get older the truth takes on more meaning.

About 10 years ago I purchased my Resurrection Eggs to help me explain the story and it's been a fun tool ever since......

What do you do to share the story with your children?

Today is being spent cleaning the house and getting it ready for company. Hubs brother, wife, and their 4 kids...yes....that's right there will be 9 kids and 4 adults here this weekend! Talk about mad house! (sits in corner rocking back and forth..."i will survive..i will survive")

The good news....hubs is going to hang my BIRTHDAY present today (good thing about having company...hubs helps me get the house in order) Again ...this present has taken 8 yrs of wanting and searching...stay tuned....cross fingers it gets hung!

At Christmas when they came to visit I made these cookies...

They were a huge hit. I can't wait to make those little guys again next year!!

This time I thought I would make the Rice Krispy "Hidden Surprise Egg Treats" for the kids!!

Hope everyone has a Blessed Good Friday...and a Happy Easter Sunday!

He has Risen! He has Risen Indeed!!!!

Tasteful Thursday.....A Must Make Again Recipe!

I found this on a blog the other day and just had to try it for wed night w/the in laws...
I had to double the recipe and make 2 rings for our family!
I knew I had a good one when my MIL asked me for the recipe and even the kids went in for 2nds (ok I did too, but don't tell WW's)

Chicken Enchilada Ring

2 cups cooked chopped chicken
1 cup cheddar cheese or more
1 small can chopped chilies, undrained
1/2 cup sour cream
1 package taco seasoning
2 rolls of crescent rolls
1 small chopped tomato
1 lime (juice)
2/3 cup finely crushed tortilla chips
and more cheese for top

1. Add chicken , cheese, chilies, sour cream and taco mix. Chop 1 tomato and add 2 tablespoons lime juice; add to chicken mixture. Reserve 2 Tbsp. crushed chips and add remaining chips to mixture.

2.Unroll crescent dough and separate triangles. Arrange on round baking stone making a circle with wide ends overlapping in the center and points toward outside. There should be a 5 inch diameter opening in the center.

3. Spread chicken mixture evenly onto widest end of each triangle.

4. Bring points of triangles up and fold over so that the ends of dough are at the center of the ring.

Sprinkle with 2 Tbsp. crushed chips and cheese on top

5. Bake @ 375 for 20-25 minutes.

I have to admit, I can't wait to make this again...it was that good.
We poured some queso over the top and had some chips and guacamole on the side.

After dinner my FIL always take sweetie pie on a walk around the lakes and parks. He never tires and looks forward to their time together.
Tonight a cool front blew in with some mist...by the time they came home they were soaked but had the biggest grins on their faces.
Take a look at princess's hair...she has curly hair, but the rain made her into Shirley Temple.
She was getting ready for her bath making funny faces in the mirror when I snapped this. It made me think
"Omgoodness...what if she had a twin just like her?" I'd be in trouble! (grins)

Who Does He Look Like...

That is the question I hear on a daily basis. In fact I find myself wondering the same thing.

The children all want a hand in Reid's looks! (I guess I don't count)

I have been thumbing through photos of the kids from back in the day and I have to admit he looks like all 4 of them at different stages.

Happy 11 weeks Dude Friend! You are one perfectly sweet angel that was sent down just for me.

Reid was created with my soft heart strings in mind! He brightens my day with each giggle...coooo...and hiccup! He is such an easy laid back baby....just what I needed after whirlwind Lillian!!

I can't believe how much time has already gone by. I'm not as sleep deprived to miss out things anymore!

Last night he slept from 9-5 and then back down again until 9. I had to wake him b/c oldest child had an Ortho appt.....typical huh? They sleep when you have places to be and wake when you don't?

The 3 of us ventured to Target today....yep just me and the little ones. Guess what? I survived! I had Reid strapped in the Moby....Lily in the buggy with an Icee in hand. Reid fell asleep and Lily actually was in great spirits and enjoyed the whole shopping experience! I think I'm back!!!

Miscellany Monday..."Who's Gary?"

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

One. Who's Gary?

Yesterday Lily grabbed an empty picture frame and held it out arms length and shouted

Hubs looked at me and asked

"Who's Gary?"

Heck if I know, but that girl can brighten a dull day!

(and no it's not a Sponge Bob character....that show is banned in our house)

Two. Mark It

If you have a large family w/lots of ppl drinking from cups and then they leave them lying around then you know my pain. I'm so sick of finding like 20 cups around. We don't even have 20 ppl in our house. The kids excuse ..."I forgot where I put it"

So mommy read this on a blog or magazine post and got all tingly! Now I don't find multiple cups...I just see a few with these fun markers on them.

Just get some clothes pins and decorate anyway you want for each person! Get creative. I didn't! (ha) Now no more

"Who's cup is this?" in my house anymore!

Three. Shortcake

Even after all my 30 + 7 years...I'm never too old to enjoy a present in the mail for my birthday. My lovely sister sent me this gift basket...It's a Strawberry Shortcake theme...because after all...strawberries are my most favorite thing in the world. I'm a lucky girl.

Four. Say what?

I had a bad day on Saturday...It started out terrific and then got even better until.....

Hubs and I took the kids for our weekly shopping trip. I am usually the one to do ur shopping, but after having babies, hubs will take over until the baby is about 4m. This weekend I was feeling a little stir crazy and asked if we all could join him. I felt I could handle it better w/Mini Me and the older boys to help with Lily and pushing carts. Everything was going smoothly until hubs and I stopped at the bank first. I was having issues with my debit when using it online. We left all the kids in the car while we ran in real quick. Now before any haters for leaving kids in the car.....my oldest is 14, and then 12, and then 10...so they were all perfectly capable of watching a 2yr and 2m old!! (back to story)

Hubs and I went into the lobby and were told to wait at the couches until the next available teller was available. There was already another couple waiting so we got in line. The next teller came to the couple and said she could help them. The man pointed to me and said...

"No...let them go first....I always let those with child go before me"

I didn't have Reid with me......so obviously the man assumed I was pregnant.

Now for starters I haven't lost all my baby weight....but COME ONNNNNNNNNNNN

My heart sank to the floor and I felt like sobbing.

I told him I wasn't pregnant and went ahead anyways to go before him. I felt he owed me that much.

For the record...we all know NEVER to assume a woman is pregnant unless you've been told. I know I'm fat, but I didn't think it was that bad...I guess I was wrong. I gained 40lbs w/Reid and lost 30 so far. After that I will lose another 10. That's the 10 I put on with the baby we lost before Reid.

Deep sigh...what a way to ruin my day. It's all I've thought about sense.

Five. Keeping my Youth

I love having a Mini Me...she always wants me to watch all the Disney Tv Movies with her. Last night we watched Lemonade Mouth w/Bridget Mendler (name of our future daughter ha)

I loved all their pretty dresses w/belts and pretty cardigans. Makes me want to welcome summer ...almost!

Six. Love Hate Relationship

To the jerk in the bank who told me I was fat (well it was implied)

I lost 2 lbs this past week. WW does work, but I have a love hate relationship with it.

I love that it works, but I hate not eating what I want whenever I want!

Seven. PB

There is something about making the first dent in the peanut butter. I love ripping off the seal and making the first dent! We go through 2 of these or more a month and I always look forward to packing the kids lunches! Odd.....I know!

Ladies and Gentlemen....

She cracks me up...I have no idea where she gets her crazy sense of humor (points at her mother)

I was feeding the baby this morning and she pulled out her kitchen oven, sink, and stove and put them in the middle of the living room. She then climbed on top of the stove ...took her toy pizza cutter in her hand and shouted w/her arms over her head

"Ladies and Gentlemen.....Inducing the Tollee Show!"

She then pointed w/her pizza cutter to me and said

"Hey you over there...you're next"

Ha Ha...seriously, that was the funniest thing I have heard or seen in a long time!! Gotta love the mind of a 2 yr old

Mini Me

At the end of every school 6 weeks they have an awards ceremony. You know...A honor roll...perfect attendance etc. They like to pass out certificates as a show of job well done. Not only that, but the kids have a theme and get to dress up for the day. One 6 weeks it was "Super Hero" another during homecoming time...it was "Homecoming" . Kate dressed in a semi formal w/corsage. (I wish I had made a tiny mum, but forgot) This 6 weeks it's Pirate theme.

Brandy over at Jumping Jack and the ETSY store Sunfire Creative or better known as my dear creative friend that sews all my kids awesome personalize stuff!

We had her create a shirt for Mini Me's Pirate theme! Look at how precious it turned out! Brandy....once again you rock! Head over to her stuff and check things out!

Child #1 (oldest son)

I have been sooooo irritated with the boys (in general ...the whole lot of them) hair style these days. I hate the long look...I mean seriously when your hair is longer than your sister or your grandmother that's a problem. I used to get on him and get angry and threaten him with hair cuts....and then I realized. Hey...It's a fad...it's the latest style....I mean I am sure I annoyed my mom with what I wanted back in the day. Or when I look back at the Jenna Elfman short "darma" haircut I had to have 14 yrs ago (ohhhh boy was it bad) I realized I needed to let it go and let the boy be a 14 yr old Freshman in high school.

So I did...I quit harping about his hair. I just told him that if he wants that long ugly mess then he needs to keep it clean and brushed everyday. And he does (it's boy #2 I have to worry about)

Last night he came to me and said

"everyone says I'm gonna look weird w/a haircut and for me not to cut it."

me (with eyes open wide) "What? what? You want a cut???"

him "Well if you want you can take me this weekend...but not to that guy you call Edward Scissorhand, I could go for a trim or something"

me "I'm sooo excited...(calms down really quit) ok ok ok ....ummmm whatever you want honey"

WOW?!!!! I'm totally excited. I mean hello....? Is that all I needed to do was keep my mouth shut?

Parenting at it's best! (grins)

Moments That Melt Your Heart

Little Dude Friend is growing too quickly.

This morning when he woke I went into his room and opened the blinds singing "good morning to you" like I used to with Lily.

When I got to his crib he had stopped crying and had pushed himself up on his little forearms ...his head was bobbing up and down (gaining strength) and he was grinning at me.

It was the most precious sight and tugged at my heart strings....here is a picture of Lily back in the day when I would walk into her room and see her smiling

We headed to the changing table for a nappy change and I blew raspberries on his belly and under his neck and he giggled! We then had this deep discussion about how silly our family is and I'm glad he's in it. Dude can jabber and jabber....I love listening to him 'talk' with me.

He's is also a quick scooter. I have to lay him at one end of the crib w/his feet touching the crib. In a matter of mins he pulls his knees under himself and uses his hands and scoots. In under 3 minutes I can find he has moved 6 inches. By the time he wakes for his first feeding in the middle of the night his head is at the opposite end. I think he could sleep longer if he didn't hit the bumper. Frustrating. No telling what he's gonna do when he starts rolling both ways.

Where has time gone?

Lily is shocking us too....Each week that goes by she grows a bit more. Not the length growth...but her little personality! She loves to spell now....she amazes me at how much she has retained.

Last night the inlaws came for dinner (hello it's wed) We always watch a bit of American Idol before they leave. Lily stood in front of the tv w/her arms outstretched and belted out tunes. For a second I wondered if she knew the words...she was singing so beautifully and with such seriousness. I was laughing so hard I was crying.

Mini Me handed over her Barbie's to Lily and it was amazing to watch Lily play with them. I've never played Barbie's with her yet...and to see how she stood them up and made them have conversations had me in awe.

My FIL takes Lily on a walk every wed night after dinner. He just lets her walk and he follows...they end up at parks and lakes....soaking in everything. He never tires of her....

Last night during bath time hubs and I were getting the 2 babies undressed...Lily went into this long conversation about how when she was walking with Old Dad she saw a kitty.

"I went walking with Old Dad....I saw kitty. The kitty went up a tree. The kitty was going to fall. The kitty didn't fall. It was scary. I love kitties. The kitty was soooo cuuuuute"

To me that was special. She took an experience and without us asking she told us a story!

I love being a mom! I love seeing my babies grow....but yet I don't!

So when they tell you to not blink b/c your children grow before your eyes...it's true. Don't blink!

Semi Wordless Wednesday! Escape Artist

I think Lily is trying to tell us something....she's wants out!
We noticed she can unlock doors so I've had to make extra sure all doors are double and triple locked. If you aren't careful she'll slip out.
I noticed these hanging from the door the other day.

I guess since she sees us with keys...she'd use hers to unlock and escape!
Lucky for me Princess Keys are mommy friendly!
Love my girl!!!

Side note...Photobucket is still down...excuse my background!

Life as a Queen

(Hey mom....that flash is really bright)

My birthday was awesome! When I woke a chef was downstairs preparing my birthday breakfast of fresh fruit and coffee....w/some incredible cherry and raspberry pastries. The maids showed up about the time I was finished and cleared my plates and started on the kitchen. I twirled around and propped my feet up while Lily and Reid sat by me like perfect angels.

After we sat in perfect harmony, the nanny came to watch the children while my personal trainer came to help me tone my post baby body back into shape. I mean after all 37 is the new 25 right?

Hubs and I then headed out for a quiet birthday lunch followed by shopping at the mall. Then off to the spa where I was pampered like a princess getting my mani/pedi.

We headed straight home just in time to see the kids get off the bus...each child held a pretty white daisy just for me making this gorgeous bouquet.

I walked inside to 2 napping angels and a sparkling house..

Dinner was being prepared in the kitchen by none other than Paula Deen! She brought her show to me and I got to be her guest helper for the day!

Then I woke up!

whew! What a birthday that was! Hee hee

All joking aside...YESTERDAY WAS FANTASTIC. The weather turned out beautiful! I had many calls from the family and friends wishing me birthday wishes! My email was flooded by birthday greetings from my bloggy friends too! Thanks for making me feel special!!

I'll show off my awesome gift in another post! Got to get her up first! :o) (I'm in ♥)

Hubs told me to settle...he's busy with taxes and work and I need to wait. BUT IT'S MY BIRTHDAY AND I WANTED IT HUNG NOWWWWWWWWWWWWW (I sound like a spoiled child...but I'm soooo excited...it's been 7+ years of wanting this)

Today Dude Friend is 10 weeks old!!! 10 weeks...did you read that? Friday will be 2 1/2 months...My baby is growing. I swear just yesterday I was pregnant.

He is trying to push up really high on his arms and tries to see us walk around the room.

When he wakes from his nap he stops crying when he hears me and Lily walk in. He pushes up to see us and grins!

He is really a happy giggly baby that sleeps! Unlike his sister. I try soooo hard not to compare them, but can't help it! He's just sooooo NOT her. He sleeps! (grins) Do you know what that does to a momma?

After the hail storm we noticed we didn't make it w/o any issues...Hubs truck's side mirror got cracked and some dents on the hood. One of our shutters on the house got broken! Pain to deal with, but better off than the ones who's fence were knocked out or broken windows on the house. There was a trampoline down the street. The kids got a kick out of that on the way to school. WOW...the winds were something that night! I even noticed the neighbor behind us on the greenbelt has their wooden playset over turned. Whoops!

Hope those that had the storm blow through didn't suffer too bad from it!

Happy Tuesday!

Miscellany Monday....HBTMe

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

Link up to my friend Carissa over at lowercase letters for Miscellany Monday

It's my 17th 21st Birthday Today! If I was told correctly that was my 1st Birthday photo. I look so sweet and innocent...I'm sure I was a perfect angel!! I look back and if 17 years ago you would have told me that I would one day be a mother to 5 of those little creatures in that photo above...I'd have said you were crazy!
Here's to another 17 more.....(YEARS NOT KIDS....grins)

I'll be celebrating w/some of this

and this

Yes, I'm baking my birthday cake again...wouldn't have it any other way...You know me and my baking!! Which leads me to...

My most favorite food in the world would be strawberries. I guess God knew what He was doing when He picked me and my birth month. These little red balls of sweetness are in their peak in my month. I can't get enough of them right now and have to fight Little Lily for them. My favorite cake (Triple Decker Strawberry Cake) uses fresh strawberries in the cake mix and frosting. I've been making this cake for almost 8 years now. Be sure if you bake it to keep it cold...the icing has lots of butter and powdered sugar and that combination w/the juice from the strawberries can make a mess! and the recipe says 1 cup of oil...that's typo..it's 1/2 cup! whew!

Did you catch Extreme Couponing on TLC this past week? I inspired to accomplish this for my family. I got my coupon binder ready with tabs and I am hoping to at least bring our bill down by 50% in a few months of going EXTREME....
Do you have any tips to share that work for you? I've read up on most websites..now it's a matter of collecting the deals and applying them! I'll keep you posted!

WW weigh in today...perfecting timing huh? My birthday. I ate my weight in gold this weekend so I'm not hoping for a good scale moment! No one to blame but myself. But I ohhhh so enjoyed being bad eating like that.

I am now having regret over eating my weight in gold over the weekend.

April showers bring......
It usually rains on my birthday, but last night at 12:22am I woke up to hail beating our house. B wanted to run outside and save his truck, but I wouldn't let him! All I could picture was him getting knocked out by hail and me dragging him to safety! uhh right!
Have I mentioned that gray overcast skies are my favorite? There is nothing better then opening the blinds and letting all that natural light in... curling up to read a good book..... while smelling fresh rain! I was meant for this month.

WW Meal...Pasta with Olive Pesto

I'm finally linking up to Kerbi's Tasteful Thursdays. Sorry, no picture of this awesome meal, I'm making it tonight and wanted to go ahead and post now!!! This is an olive pesto using parsley instead of basil. I found this years ago (like 12) in a WW cookbook and have used this ever since. You will be amazed at how yummy it is! 6pts per serving too! Can't beat that....

Pasta with Olive Pesto

1/2 cup of firmly packed Italian Leaf parsley
1/4 cup pimiento
10 sm pimiento stuffed green olives
3/4 oz parmesan cheese
1/2 oz pine nuts (toasted)
2 tsp olive oil
1 tsp red wine vinegar
1 sm garlic clove
3 cups cooked bowtie pasta

In a food processor combine all ingredients except bow tie and process until pureed, scraping down sides of bowl as necessary.

Add hot bow tie pasta in a bowl and toss w/pesto!

Super simple and super fantastic....the flavors are fresh and clean tasting....Great Light yet filling dish!

What's great about this pesto is that I make it ahead of time and keep it in the fridge until dinner! I'm all about things I can make ahead and just pop in the oven for dinner! Frees up my time to hang with the kids after school!

I Have a Confession

Lately I've been a bad mom.

You see I always and I mean always get up in the morning with my kids when they go to school. But when I gave birth to Reid...well ummm I got lazy and tired. My mom came for 3 weeks after he was born and she was sweet enough to get up with them and see them off to school.

It helps that they are all older and can eat...get their stuff ...and out the door on time. It helps that they sort of act like they like each other in the morning and help each other out.

So one day I thought I would start leaving them messages on the dry erase board on the inside of the pantry...and for them to leave me a message back (ie...thanks mom...ok mom...whatever)

The first times I started saying..."have a great day and don't forget your lunches"

Then....I started leaving fun facts about ______. One day I did chickens...and another I did Peep Marshmallow Chicks...haha...It was fun! Then another day I did facts about Mom that they did not know already about me.

like...the time when I was 3, I twisted a girl's arm behind her back b/c she wouldn't wake up after naptime. (Yes I still remember this...I got in trouble and it will forever stand out in my head)

Or the time I wasn't supposed to talk during a dress rehearsal for the Nutcracker program we were doing...and guess what? I talked (surprise) ...and I got tape put over my mouth. I was humiliated!

Yesterday I woke up to find this message on the board for me from Mini Me...it about broke my heart w/happiness....

My Little Man is 9 weeks today!

Now that Dude Friend is sleeping through the night...Ok in my book he is...he's sleeping from 10-5 and then back down and wakes between 7 and 8am. How's that for happiness? He's soooo different than Lily...I needed that! I can put him to sleep a bit awake and he'll fall back asleep! Hello happiness! Now that he's sleeping better and I am feeling like myself again in the morning...I'll start seeing the big kids off again! I might even get a few extra mins to myself for devotions again!

I weighed him on Friday and he weighed 14lbs exactly! Wow that's 4lbs in 2 months!

I think he's going through a growth spurt...yesterday he took small naps and ate all day long! Him's was a hungry boy!! :o) Today he's back to sleeping like a champ for naps!

Over the weekend to make up for being a lacking mother...I baked the kids favorite cookies...

I've post this recipe before...but I'm telling you ...you must make them! I double the batch and substitute cheerios for the honey nut ones and raisins for chocolate chips. They freeze perfect. In fact my kids prefer them frozen!

Double Oat Breakfast Cookies
(Better Homes and Garden Magazine)

* 1/2 cup butter, softened
* 1/2 cup smooth peanut butter
* 1-1/4 cups sugar
* 1/2 tsp. baking soda
* 1/4 tsp. salt
* 1/4 cup water
* 1 egg
* 1 Tbsp. vanilla
* 1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
* 1 cup rolled oats
* 1 cup golden raisins and/or milk chocolate pieces (I've only tried choc chips so far)
* 3 cups round toasted oat cereal (such as Cherrios)

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. In large mixing bowl beat butter and peanut butter with electric mixer on medium to high speed for 30 seconds. Add sugar, baking soda, and salt. Beat until combined, scraping sides of bowl. Beat in water, egg, and vanilla until combined. Beat in flour until combined. Beat in as much of the rolled oats as you can with mixer. Stir in any remaining rolled oats. Stir in raisins and oat cereal.

2. Drop dough by scant 1/4 cupfuls about 3 inches apart onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Flatten slightly. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until edges are lightly browned. Cool on cookie sheet for 5 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack and let cool completely. Store cookies in tightly covered container for up to 5 days or freeze for up to 3 months. Makes 24 (2-cookie) servings.
