Seriously....I'm Not that Crazy...am I?

Dreams are weird little suckers. If they are any indication of how crazy we are then maybe, just maybe, I am crazy. Maybe.

For starters I do not dream in color. Sucks I know....It's always night time and/or over cast so if there was color I can't tell. I've never once thought "ohhh wow everything is void of color" I just dream and it seems normal.

My pregnancy dreams are pretty odd too. I used to write them down and then gave up. I mean I would hate for anyone to stumble across my subconscious thoughts.

Last night I had a dream that we lived in this huge tree house like place....and we shared it with another family. The backyard backed up to a tree lined street...and there were little shops down each side of the street. Each store was an old Victorian home....kind of reminded me of a quaint little historic town you see on tv or read in books. It was almost time for the kids to come home from school, so I went into the backyard to wait for them to walk home.

I noticed our neighbors grizzly bear was missing and went to tell them. (did you catch that?) They said they hadn't fed him in a few days and he was super hungry and must have gotten out in search of food. I freaked out and ran down the street towards the kids school to make sure the bear didn't eat them. That's when I saw the bear coming towards me....I knew I couldn't out run him and so I jumped a picket fence (as if I'd make it over) and hid in some rose bushes. (again...hello thorns) The owners of the house told me that if they could see me so could the bear...So I ran back down the street.....I saw one of my kids (no idea which one) and they were screaming that a bear was eating a bus driver....(ew)

This is when I woke up...HELLO A NEIGHBOR HAS A PET GRIZZLY BEAR? As if that's gonna happen. As for the house...it was really cool though. Now all this was in black and white and I think it was even night time. But it couldn't have been b/c it was taking place in the afternoon.

I'm guessing I was really tired or I'm nervous about what new neighbors we'll be getting next door. The neighbors moved out on Friday...no idea who's moving in (still for sale)! haha Hope they don't have a bear for a pet!

These are the Days.....

These are the days that I truly try and hold on to.

These are the days I don't want to let go.

These are the days that I try to freeze but can't.

These are the days when it's ok to be a princess all day long.

These are the days when the party doesn't have to end because it's bath time.

These are the days to find even the smallest of things to give Praise for.

These are the days that your Daddy is your hero.

These are the days when a little rain never made anyone melt.

These are the days when blue is my favorite color

Miscellany Monday....

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

one. nuff said...

two. cloak and dagger

yesterday i asked lily to turn the fan off for me b/c i was cold. she is my helper when i'm sitting nursing little dude and need some extra hands. SOMETIMES

she threw her blanket over her head and said, "Nope, I'm invisible"

man i love this girl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

three. piles of smiles

when you have 5 kids you do what you can to show each one you love them. even small things count. so i baked my oldest son's all time favorite cookie this weekend. it's his way of knowing i ♥ him and was thinking of him. each of my kids are never ever far from my thoughts. oldest child's future wife will need the recipe. i've posted it before...look it up...it's the double oat breakfast cookies

four. pot of gold

we gave potty training a try. if you remember dear girl hates the potty or panties. she's gonna be a tough cookie to crack. this weekend i thought i'd keep her diaper off and let her do her thing. this way when she does go she'll know what and where and when....(as if she doesn't ...she's stubborn) thankfully when she did pee it was in the kitchen and then she ran for her potty. i snapped this picture with my cell phone of lily on her 'pot' and reid in his bumbo. she was holding his hand telling him 'good job' for going potty too. yes that is a 'pot' in the living room....quit judging

five. love movie style

this guy has set the bar really high for any dude out there that is thinking of proposing. i laughed i cried i shouted AWWWWW over and over. if you haven't seen this yet...you must! you will thank me!

Laura's Latest Lovin List

Inside Laura's Brain....

Scary place if you ask my husband.

Here's a list of things I'm lovin lately...

Thanks to Brandy who told me the Vidalia Onion Chopper rocked, I'm making fresh pico like it's going out of style. Since I finally kicked my WW diet back into high gear this stuff comes in handy for every meal. My scrambled eggs are now spiced up. My bean soup thanks you and so does my grilled chicken fajita lunch! 11pts btw or skip the half of avocado and make it 6 pts total. I made 2 cups of pico in under 2 mins!!!

or my Lemon Verbena scented Mrs Meyers soap. I'm addicted to her Basil one too....have it in the kitchen along w/the cleaning products to match each one! Kitchen has the basil scent. Guest bathroom has the Lemon Verbena scent and our bathroom has the Lavender scent. Yes I'm that weird and obsessed. I'm dying to try the Geranium scent but can't find it....anyone, anyone?

Or my new wire chicken my oldest child made in art class. He rocks! I want to spray paint it black...but he forbids me....

or my sweet indulgence every morning since I'm not eating sweets....Oh Italian Sweet Creme how I ♥ you. You make waking so glorious.

or my book I can't put down....I read while nursing. Do you know how many books I read each year when I nurse? I think I'll nurse forever just so I can always have that time.

Or my new Mom Agenda I bought with my birthday money...isn't the giraffe design precious? I'm so thankful to have it to write down kids appt's (seeing as there are now 5 and my brain isn't as young as it was)

Or my new cross for my cross wall. My lovely inlaws come every Wednesday for dinner and always bring gifts....she saw this and thought of me...it's my new favorite (big one on the far right)

And lastly my tea. I ♥ tea.....this flavor reminds me of Corner Bakery's Currant tea. Makes drinking water so much more fun these days!

Lily-ism's Continued...

Before i start....i had to add a quick video of my sweetie pie....he melts my

now on to Lily-ism's.....

last night both babies had dirty diapers at the same time.....so of course i had diaper duty! i think they planed it. i will like to add for digital journal sake....DADDY HAS BEEN CHANGING DIAPERS LATELY little sweeties. So when you look back and read all my journals of your life you can see daddy did have a hand in some of the dirty stuff...(notice i said a hand...1)

back to story...

so i changed L first...then R. for some reason Lily was impressed with reid's diaper in the trash and kept wanting to open it...

me "noooo nooo monkey brain...that's dirty...blech...blah....don't touch it sweetie"

lily "ohhh lookie...it's reid's poo poo"

me "lily ...mommy is serious....do no touch that....blech...it's nasty poo poo"

off lily walks over to oldest child playing some video game...he can't see her behind him, but he can only hear her and our previous conversation about the poo poo.

grayson "lily did you see the poo poo"

lily "yes"

grayson "do you still have it now?"

(rubs her mermaid w/brown hair on his cheek)

lily "yes"

he flies up off the couch and I die laughing....haha he saw brown out of the corner of his eye and thought she had the diaper! silly lily!

the other night after getting Lily all ready for bed we sat on the couch to wind down. a few minutes later she jumped off the couch and ran into the kitchen and in secs she was back....with a gallon sized bag of chocolate chip cookies.

me "what on earth are you doing little girl?"

lily "shhh i'm having my lunch...don't bother me"

haha little stinker (and i let her have 1 before i yanked the bag away)

her latest favorite story is The Three Little Pigs...hourly she makes me pretend the huff and puff scene...i thought i'd capture it on video

Need to feel like you're not alone in the Terrific 2's Tantrum world? Check her out. What cracks me up is that she has to wipe her face while screaming. (yes every time) and then hands it to me when she's finished her rant...and walks off to play That A Girl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

from the mouth of a 32 month old...

" i don't like panties or the potty...diapers are my favorite"

(lovely...this will be a long long summer)

Miscellany Monday...

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

one. mover and a shaker

Reid my dear son....♥ you bunches. BUT. But this scooting you do in the crib is really wrecking your momma's new found sleep. You used to sleep from 9-5 and back down again until 8:30. BUT. But now that you scoot all over the place on your belly like a soldier crawling in the mud...it's really killing me. Every other hr you get yourself too far into the corner and it wakes you up. Mommy has to then pull you back to the other end of the crib only to watch you scoot back into the corner making yourself mad. NOW you started rolling over from front to back. I have yet to see you do this new trick of yours. For 2 weeks now you roll over at night and wake yourself up. Mommy has to go in and flip you back over. Which in turn starts the scooting process all over again. I'm losing sleep man! I hope you learn to roll over back to front pretty quickly so you can roll back to sleep! (deep sigh) I love that you are growing, but miss my tiny little baby!

two. dish dizzy

I did 4 loads of dishes this weekend. if this is any indication of how summer break will be I'm not ready. Don't even get me started about laundry.

three. Elsie the cow

I ordered myself a new nursing bra....I'm super excited. Silly huh? I got it off of Zulily. Love that site, hate the shipping time. Do not order from them unless you don't really mind a 3 week shipping period. Great deals so I guess they fail in 1 area. My mom made me giggle because she asked why I was ordering one if it took 3 weeks.....I reminded her I've been nursing for the past 2 1/2 yrs...and will be nursing for another 2 + years so the 3 week delivery is ok with me. Ha ha (btw...do the math...that's a long long time to be a milkmaid. One day I'll see my VS bras again)

four. 4 down 4 up

Today is weigh in day...over the past 2 weeks I've lost 4 lbs. The scales this morning tell me that was a joke...I'm back up that 4 again. All this has finally prompted me to get on the ball..get serious. I'm sick of not having anything to wear....So instead of getting up to visit with the kids each morning before school (lily and Reid are still asleep thankfully) I'll use that time to do my Turbo Jam dvd. The kids can laugh and point at mommy as they walk out the door for school. That's motivation there in itself. Since I can't make it to the fitness center in the neighborhood I'll resort to using my hand weights and our kitchen table bench to do core and arms. I hadn't realize how much I crave working out. I never thought I'd hear myself say that. Now that I don't have the time (ie..1 hr to only myself) I long for the gym. When R takes a nap I've got Lily around my ankles...and finally when all kids are in bed and my chores for the night are through it's 10pm and hubs and I visit for a hr before bed. I'm not the work out type that late in the evening. I've tried blinking the weight off, but it's not working.

five. feeding an army

I just realized that when all the kids leave the nest I won't have a clue how to cook for 2. I make so much food on a daily basis (and it never seems to be enough) that I'm not sure how to half things. (grins) I usually double and triple my recipes to feed this troop! On the bright note though, I'll have a freezer full of baked goodies to entice the grandkids to my house to visit.

You Look Like A Beach Angel

There are a few commercials that really have me laughing...and this is one of them.

hubs knows I get a kick out of this and out of the blue he'll tell me I look like a beach angel...which in turn has me dying laughing! he did it again this morning while I was pouring my coffee....nothing like a little morning humor to jump start your day. I think it's the way the husband says "beach angel" that makes this so funny...or maybe her hyena laugh that kills me too!

Oh the small things in life that make us giggle! Laughter ...it's good for the soul! If it made us skinny I'd be blowing away in the wind

Miscellany Monday....or My Mumbles

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

one. dresses make me girly

i don't know about you but dresses make my day. i feel like i could walk on clouds of girliness. i'd be barefoot, pregnant, and wearing dresses all year long if i could. check out this little summer cutie hubs and kids got me for mother's day. i'm wearing it as i type. makes for a perfect nursing dress too...i've got my nursing cami under. think i'll head back to Target for all the colors! summer uniform...here i come!

two. corner time

i've tried over and over to move R man back to the center of the crib, but i'm finally gonna quit. in literally 60 secs he gets his knees under him and he scoots faster than lightening to the corner and sleeps. it worried me the first million times he did it. but i've since realized he must really like it. he slept from 9-6am and 6:30 until 9 when i had to wake him to get him ready for his chiro appt today. corners rule!

three. hairy situation

yesterday for mother's day my 2 oldest boys got a haircut. yes, i had to look outside to see if pigs were flying...nope. so i printed out pics of chance or chase or whatever young boy this is and they headed to the barber. oldest likes the look (basically his old look just shorter) but we are trying to gel it for the wet look all day long. any hair stylist have ideas? oldest has thick hair and when it dries it's full and has body...he wants wet plastered look

four. mothers

my mom is here for the week....(pause for angels singing) i'm sooooo excited. i've missed hanging out w/her. when she comes to visit we laugh until our sides hurt...about absolutely nothing. we kill each other. this morning mini me asked me though why i act like the mom instead of the daughter though....she says i'm bossy. no, someone needs to keep mee mee in line! she's my best friend and i'm so grateful i was blessed to be her daughter!

five. a little parm never hurts

i wanted to make scalloped potatoes instead of mashed for friday nights meatloaf. MAN OH MAN WERE THEY FANTASTIC. they were so incredible we're making them again this week. southern living ...you never cease to amaze me! recipe follows...

  • 2 pounds Yukon gold potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 3 cups whipping cream
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley
  • 2 garlic cloves, chopped
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt

  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
